After import, images changes colour temp, saturation and some other things.

I have searched and have seen this topic countless times. However up until 12 hours ago it simply was not happening to me.
Could someone please explain why my image changes so dramatically after import? I have been using RAW since it came out and Light room since beta day 1. I imported this photo last week and on initial import it was a nice flat ugly RAW (the way it should be). When I went into develop pane it was the same, nice flat. Coloured it exported no issue.

Today, I re-imported the same image into LRoom and I'm getting some kind development setting or ''something'' added to it. I deleted all my presets and before reinstalling I reimported again, same issue.

Any Ideas? something beyond RAW/JPG conversion/preview is going on here. In other images as well, exterior shot of men in suits, blacks were clipped '.

You reimported the same image into LR and it had some editing applied to it? Perhaps you saved the metadata to .xmp, all your development setting are in there and LR read it and applied it.

Hi Paige

It happens to all / any images, I was just pointing out that I knew previously the image did not behave the way it does currently.

I know everyone assumes I just don't understand the RAW process but something much more ''influential'' is happening to the image

It may be possible that you've somehow altered the 'default' rendering.

In the Develop module, with one of the problem images selected, do one of two things:

1) Hold Shift, note the Reset button, lower right, changes to 'Reset (Adobe)'. Press that, your image should be reset to the factory default rendering for the camera model. Note this will only change the selected image, and of course you can recover it from Undo or History.
2) Hold Alt, note the Reset button, changes to 'Set Default...'. Pressing this opens a dialog allowing to establish a new default rendering setting, or to restore the factory default rendering. This shouldn't affect the current image (other than using its settings as the data source) but the new default will then apply to all future imports, possibly refined by camera serial number, ISO, or combinations of both.

I'd consider Paige's suggestion of previously embedded/sidecar-ed XMP the most likely scenario, and this default setting, second most likely. If you've ruled out both of these, we'll need to hear more of the story....

I did watch your video, but I couldn't quite see it well enough to get the full story of what you were showing, other than there were no presets applied, but the image still rendered differently. Plus if there was audio, I couldn't hear it on my system/browser.
