After I edit in Photoshop, it is lost.

I am losing my Photoshop edited files.

First, I create a virtual copy, edit the virtual copy in LR, click on "edit in Photoshop". At this point in ver 1.4 I used to get a dialog box that would ask if I want to use lightroom settings, but I no longer do. Now it opens up directly into Photoshop. I edit it, click save, and it changes the file name by adding "edit" to the file name, but when i go back to Lightroom it is nowhere to be found. What am I missing? :(

Probably not missing anything, Bob. Various aspects of this seem broken in LR2. Not all the time, and not for everybody, but a lot of folks have similar problems.

Try installing PS as the "Additional External Editor" in the External Editor Tab of the preferences, and then send the file to PS that way. That seems to work, although it disables the extra features LR2 was supposed to have in this area.

I found the missing file. Lightroom did import it back in, but it is treating the drive it is in as a new drive. So in folders, my drive "K:" is showing up twice. One with all the files in it (1',23') and with just the edited file in it. How do I fix that?

Great that you found it.

That's part of the bug. I'm not sure how to fix it. Presumably Adobe will have a solution fairly soon. You're not alone.

I did put in a whole section about the goofy drives, and then deleted it as possibly too confusing. I personally haven't seen it, so I'm relying on others reports to describe it.

Thanks Brad! This happened yesterday, but I didn't realize it. I ended up removing the files and then re-importing them to were I wanted them. I guess I will leave them alone for now, until I read of a real fix.

I am having the same issue with LR-2 when ever I edit a file in Photoshop CS3 the edit copy shows up in a second listing of me external drive. To be able to stack this with original file I have to sync. the original folder under the original drive listing. This is somewhat of a nusence, but over all I am liking LR-2.

:idea: This is due to a bug with the way Lightroom - Photshop and Camera Raw work together - change back to CameraRaw 4.4 and the problem goes away. I'm sure Lightroom 2.'1 will fix this.

I had a similar problem at first upgrade, but now it seems to have fixed itself.

Going back to 4.4.1 forces LR to bring back the old dialog that asks whether you want to use 4.4.1 and the file to render differently (ignoring bits it can't do - local adjustments etc) or whether you want to use LR to render the file. And obviously using LR to render the file renders with all adjustments and creates a PSD/Tiff just as setting LR as the second editor does.

Hi Brad,
The change in Camera Raw to 4.4 doesn't seem to affect the operation of the localised adjustment tools.
