hey everybody,
Im kind of stuck with this problem.
I'm using a D3 and when I compare the outcome of the jpg outofcamerafiles with the adobe standard or the camera standard look of the ACR-converted NEF-files, they look different in terms of colours, but most of all different in terms of microcontrast.when I watched the LR 2 tutorial that jeff and michael have done , it looked pretty good with the getagmacbeth colour checker, but on my calibrated screen, it's not really close, but pretty bad.
I know thatonly capture NX is supposed to look the way the nikonengineers want it to look, but is there anybody that has any ideas on that, or actual profiles that really work?
now I've doodled around with the adobe profile editor, but it's a lot of painstaking work.
anybody with me ?

Stephan, did you try any of the other profiles such as ACRx.x??
Personally I use an import preset with autotone,w/b as shot, clarity +2', vibrance +1' and at the moment ACRx.x.It is fairly close to jpegs from the camera and in fact I prefer the colours to the jpegs, especially the blues.

Geoff,

Your preset is about the same as I finish with....I'd like to use it, BUT I can't figure how to get it into LR so I can use it. Some guidance please.

Sam, I'll jump in for Geoff, because he's halfway around the world in a way different time zone.

First, remember where you have Geoff's preset downloaded.
Then, in Develop Module, in the Left Hand Presets Panel, right click on the 'User Presets' parent category (or any other category, except the built-in 'Lightroom Presets'.)
There should be an option to 'Import...' on the drop down menu. Choose that, and navigate to the downloaded preset.

If that doesn't work, let us know, and we'll tell you how to copy the preset file directly to the proper location.

The problem was that the attachment had ".txt" attached to the file and it won't load. I finally gambled and took the ".txt" off and it worked fine. Thanks again!

Happy you sorted it Sam, I just uploaded it from it's place on the HD, no idea why it ended up with .txt extension....;)
