Adjustment Brush showing mask, but I can't see what I'm editing!

I'm new to light room, and got it because I saw a tutorial video about the soften skin brush. well on the video as the guy goes across the skin it softens the skin!!! but when I try it it just seems to show a gray mask and I can't see what I edited until I close out the brush.. help?

The "O" Key activates and removes the Overlay. Press O.
