Adjustment brush not working

I noticed that some other people have had this problem, but I can't solve it. Am using LR 2.6 with Snow Leopard operating system. Things were going well for a while, then I began to have problems.Now, the adjustment brush wont show the changes when using it...but will show the mask of where I used the brush.
Quite frustrating when I consider it to be one of the most valuable tools I have.

Just to be sure we understand, is the overlay mask obscuring the adjustments, or there are no adjustments even with the mask hidden?

Likely you know this, but just in case, you turn the mask off and on with 'O', (letter O) and cycle the color with shift-'O'.

Someone else has said the same, but I can't remember what the solution was.

Using a mouse or a graphics tablet?

Does it happen on every image?

Is the Density slider set to 1''?

Have you tried moving the preferences file to let it rebuild default preferences?

Have you tried it on a clean catalog?
