Adjustment brush frustrations...

OK, so I know the delays in the processing results when using the localized editing brush are well documented.

But I have what seems like a unique problem. Along with the delay in the processing results, I get what I'll call a release delay on the mounse/Pen.
even though I have released the mouse button or lifted the pen, LR takes quite a bit of time to catch up to itself, While it is doing this catch up, it continues to register adjustment strokes even though I am not actually applying any strokes to the images. For instance, if I am applying a negative exposure adjustment to the image, once I have finished applying my desired edits I move the cursor off the image and...wait. As LR catches uo, I get what appear to look like random strokes all o ver the image, like I just rolled the mouse back and forth across the image..

Am I alone here? Any suggestions on how to remedy?

Glad to hear someone else is having this problem, i thought it only happened to me. Exactly as you say finish brushing remove finger from mouse button and the brush paints lines across the screen. It has happened to me with two mice.

Will do likewise.

I started a thread on another forum about mouse vs pen as I was getting similar random streaks using the adjustment brushes, assuming it was caused by my machine and mouse getting a bit fed up. In 2.1 the adjustments do also seem to be a bit delayed, again I thought it was down to my perception of how it was 'supposed' to work and the effect of 'painting' (though 2.' was more responsive and my machine has some kick in it).

Wacom is only a few months old..

Mouse, Logitech Laser, is operationally fine in all other applications

I don't think I am inclined to stop using the brush.. I just wait for LR to catch up and CTRL + Z until I am back to where I should be. Not ideal, but far better than not using the brush IMHO!!

I might use it for something small, but if I have a fairly detailed adjustment I want to do, rather than deal with the frustration of undo and waiting for way to long for it to catch up I'll just make the change in photoshop in much less time. I'd rather do it in Lightroom if I could. I've always assumed it was my laptops fault for being a few years old and just dealt with it.

I think I know why...

I have just started using the trial of Lightroom 2.1 and have seen the same thing happen. I believe that after using the brush and releasing the mouse/pen button, as long as the program is still processing the brush adjustment you just made, if you then try to use the brush again it will add the adjustment effect in a straight line from where you released the mouse/pen button from the last stroke to the point where you re-pressed the button for the current stroke. I think.

Whew! That's a mouthful, but I can't explain it any clearer.

BTW, I was able to fairly dramatically improve the processing speed of the adjustment brush by following the advice seen in the forums here - adjusting the display adapter settings. Here's the thread link

I have exactly the same problem! (As a matter of fact, i just posted a thread about it - didn´t discover this one before writing).
I think the problem is so annoying, that i will keep to using my Capture NX software, if someone dosn´t come up with a solution.
