Adjustment brush: cannot avoid seeing mask as I use it

There was a similar thread but felt like not "hijacking" it

After toggling the H and O keys I am left with the following situation:

I see the adjustment pins (and want to) but while I am using the brush I see the red mask (think of how this is unsettling while you are applying a brightness or a color adjustment), while I would like to see the mask ONLY when I hover over the adjustment pin.

What am I doing wrong ? Thank you very much.

Shift-O

This will pass trough different states for the mask...

Try View menu > Tool Overlay > Auto Show instead.

thanks to both of you ! What Vic suggested is exactly what I needed but also the Shift-O "trick" could be handy at times.
