Hey team, when adding photos to a LC existing folder - should the existing corresponding collection folder and Lightroom cloud mobile folder auto sync/update too? Or do I have to force this somehow? Cheers

Hi Nick.

If the goal is to bring an image into LrC (Lighroom Classic) and have it sync to Lr (Lightroom Cloud) the process is this

  1. Import the image into LrC
  2. Enable "sync" if it's paused
  3. Add the image to either a collection which has sync with cloud enabled or add the image to the "All Syncec Photographs" special colleciton in the Catalog Panel
That's it.

No, it should not. Adding a photo to a folder does not automatically add that photo to the ‘corresponding’ collection as well. You have to manually add it and then it should sync without any further action from you.

There is no "corresponding collection" A static collection is a "bucket" to hold images. Images can be assigned to the Collection from any folder and the same image can reside in several collections. The user decides what images are assigened to a Static Collection. Nothing is automatic.

OTOH, a Smart collection gets populated when the criteria for membership are met. For example, If the Smart Collection has as one of its criteria {Folder}{contains}{(your folder name goes here)}. Then that Smart Collection would automatically get any images that is added to that folder.
