Add Caption on files already imported.

Is there a way to add to the metadata of a single file? I would like to add caption information to each file on a flash gallery, but cannot find anything that allows me to do so. I would figure a right click on the photo and edit metadata would be a nice option, but don't see that. I am sure it is something completely obvious, but for some reason I am missing it.

You do this in Library in the Metadata panel on the right. If you don't see Caption change the dropdown at the header of that section from Default to All.

Then in the template for the Web Gallery under Image Info check Title and/or Caption.

I did a search for the same problem, dont feel bad Don. I am using the midnight template, but when I make the site, the caption doesnt come through. Can you help?

Once you have added a caption as described above, on the right hand side of the Web module you'll see a pane called "Image Info". Is "Caption" checked AND to the right of that, does it have "Caption" as the data that will go into the Web caption? If it doesn't then click on the little up/down arrows to the right of whatever it does say and select "Caption" from the drop down list.

Note that the caption is only displayed on the full sized photo web page, not on the thumbnail page.

mneiman, Welcome to the forums.

If the caption is to be the same on all/many of the files, just select the pertinent files in Grid View. Then add/edit the caption in the the Metadata Panel.

That is the first thing that I tried, but it does not seem to work. I can edit the caption field in the metadata window, but then when I leave the picture and return the change is lost. Is the Sync Metadata button somehow involved?

You have to commit the change by pressing "Enter" after putting the caption so it is not highlighted when you click elsewhere...

And if you're trying to change the caption on multiple images at the same time, you need to be in Grid view on the primary monitor.
