Hi guys,

When I am using the Premium Adaptive Landscape Preset, its taking about 6-7 mins for it to become active.
The thumbnails take about 30sec-60sec to appear.
Then the blue line below the thumbnail just about appears but then gets stuck.
If I try and move the slider, the update AI setting becomes highlighted, if I click that, then it gets stuck on about 5%.
If then I just leave it eventually it becomes active.

Is there any way of speeding it up, I am pretty certain my pc is quick enough, but if there are any specs I should check, please let me know.

Thanks for your help,

Alex

I am pretty certain my pc is quick enough,
From the description of the issue. I'd say not. You need lots of GPU and CPU cores. At least 32GB of RAM and 12 or more GB of VRAM. Also you need to check if your GPU video drive is up to date.

Hi thanks for gettingback to me.
Here is the spec of my PC:
Device name Sandy
Processor 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 (2.50 GHz)
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable)
Device ID A10DBF42-6134-4A72-9810-09F18D86EE38
Product ID 00331-20300-00000-AA728
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display

From what you have said, I do not have enough RAM @ 16GB?

The Lightroom system requirements say 8GB is the minimum amount of RAM, and your PC meets the Recommended amount of 16GB. So memory is probably not the problem. However, some of us think 16GB is the real minimum, at 8GB some features or some larger images will edit more slowly. Personally I like 24GB or more for Lightroom.

A web search says your CPU is about 4 years old, that's relatively recent. But the one thing missing from your system specs is the GPU, what kind is it and how much graphics memory does it have? My guess is that it has Intel integrated graphics, and we’ll soon see why I think that…

I don’t use the Adaptive Landscape profiles much, but I tried it on three devices I have.
On a recent MacBook Pro laptop, it works pretty much instantly.
On a 5-year-old iPad Pro tablet (so, older than your laptop), it takes a few seconds for the thumbnails to show up, but once they do, the profile applies instantly.

But here’s the interesting one…I also have an old 2018 MacBook Pro with a Core i5 and 16GB RAM, similar to your computer. On that one, the Adaptive Landscape thumbnails take a few seconds to appear. When I tried to apply one, what I saw is what you saw:

Then the blue line below the thumbnail just about appears but then gets stuck.

That’s exactly what happened to me. The blue line got stuck near the beginning. I heard the fans spin up, so I checked processor usage and while the blue line was stuck, Lightroom was using most of the CPU power without anything happening. I waited a while for it to finish, then gave up and just quit Lightroom. It’s interesting that I see the same problem with a Core i5 on a completely different hardware platform (Mac, not PC).

So, there might be a problem specifically related to some older Intel Core processors, or maybe with older Intel integrated graphics. You might consider filing a bug report for Lightroom in Adobe Community.

Still looking for a complete set of specs. I should have been more specific. In the Lightroom Menu click on {Help}{System Info...} and then click the {Copy} button on the dialog and paste the results into your next reply.

And Yes, Probably not enough RAM The recommended sopes just say that The app will run in your environment not that it will be speedy.

Hi thanks for getting back to me, I am away working at the moment, when I get back, I will see if I can find the missing specs.
It woukld be nice to try and get it working a bit quicker.
Thanks For yiur help,
Alex

I had another play arround this afternoon, after a while the "AI edit status" button gets high lighted, if I click that, it gets stuck at 2%, but if I leave it for some mins, than it all seems to work.

Hi thanks for reviewing my spec, before I start to buy anything, can I just check my understanding, in the link you attached, it said the minimum was 2gb of vram, is that different to my 4gb of vram.
Thanks for your help Alex

2gb of vram, is that different to my 4gb of vram.
Those Adobe numbers just mean the App will run without crashing . It does not mean that you will get the desired performance. Which why you came here.
Is there any way of speeding it up...
Our recommended spec includes a minimum of 32 GB of RAM and 12GB of VRAM. Personally I don't think a CISC computer (Windows Intel) can Match the performance of a RISC (MacOS & SnapDragon) computer for Lightroom performance objectives.

Hi thanks for your help, I have been away working.

Well it looks as if I had better get my £'s out to upgrade my pc, at least now I know I am spending my money sensibly.
Thanks again for your help.
