Accessing "off-line" images

Hi all. New guy on the block here. My question is about viewing archived images.
I store some of my images on CD/DVD rather than on my computer to save disk space, and as a backup. Is there a way to view these off-line images in LR, and have LR indicate their off-line location (ie. CD#1''1)?

Yes just import them (at the same location, not copy) from the CD/DVD and LR will have the DVD in the Library as the location as you want.

Be sure to render Standard previews or you will have nothing to see when the DVD is not present.

Or 1:1 if you want that. You would need to check the catalog settings to ensure that 1:1 are not deleted after a few days!!
