Have LR 2.1RC 64bit installed. How do I tell it to boot up in 32bit mode so I can hopefully resolve some print module problems?

Regards,
Matt

Vista64 is 64 bits only. Your solution may be to buy Vista32 and make a dual boot system with Lightroom32 on one and Lightroom64 on the other. Then you will have to choose a third partition to put your Catalogs, Settings and Photos shared by the two systems...

Good luck!

A better answer?
1. Lets get LR2 FIXED re: the poor print-module
2. Vista64 can run 32 bit apps, LR 2 should be able to be set to operate in either, with a 32 bit version suppied and installed when 64bit is detected and then a setting is used to run either.

Of course, this is just the opinion of a customer.

Quite understand your frustration Matt. If Vista 64 will run 32 bit programs, you could try downloading the 32-bit and see if that solves the problem for you.

Adobe would have preferred to have just added a switch to go between 32 and 64 bit - that's what they've done with the Mac version - but the Windows code is completely different and would have become bloated.

As far as the poor print-module goes, I'd agree, there are still some problems. Many of those problems, particularly with 64-bit though, come down to the printer drivers not being fully 64-bit compatible, so the printer manufacturers have some work to do too. The joys of cutting edge technology, eh?

Well, in this case the printer driver is the 64bit version (Epson 24'') and works just fine via QImage, etc... I'll actually spend the few extra minutes to export the photo and go into QImage for my printing. The author has and continues to work at improving the app over the last many years. Definitely a "benchmark" for others to measure against.

The bloatware comment is understandable and I do agree. The simple stop gap is for the LR2 install program to do exactly that, install both and utilize a switch inside preferences to determine which version is loaded when clicking the icon. Low tech for sure but it does solve the immediate problem and possibly allows the print module to become viable in the interim.

Of course, they could just get it right to begin with and bypass all the bad publicity. What happened to good American Pride? Guess there are less people these days that care about how they are viewed by others.

Regards,
Matt
