Sorry this is so basic, but I'm afraid I don't understand IT or processors, can you explain 64 bit in LR2 and if I should be using it:?:

This is a reference as to whether your computer hardware, operating system and software are capable of running in 32-bit or 64-bit mode. Most older machines are only capable of running in the former. As I do not own a Mac, I cannot comment on your OS or hardware. There are no issues with running in 32-bit mode, except that it is not as fast as 64-bit when it comes to certain tasks.

How much RAM have you got in your machine Jude?

Victoria, Hope this is the right bit of info. 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. I'm going to the Apple store soon for a service/health check and I was thinking about having more memory put in, would this be a good idea. I notice my Hard drive has 62 GB left of about 111 in total. I don't keep my images on the macbook pro but on the Iomega drive.

I have a feeling you're right Mark, and either way, 2GB probably won't see a benefit from 64-bit, so I wouldn't worry about it Jude.

I tryed it on my 2GB MacPro (2''8) and saw a slight improvement. But definitely not enough to keep it at 64 bits having to switch to 32 each time I want to print. But I will give it another try when I will get 1'GB of RAM. The most effective thing for me was to increase the cache size from 1GB to 4GB!
