255 to 252 in LR

Hi, i have searched but cant find anything specific about this.... sorry if its been done before. generally until now, one of the later steps in my workflow is to adjust my 16 bit tiffs in PS for colour/crop/spotting etc... with lovely LR2.1 I am now doing most of this in LR, except for things like layers. I can do 9' percent of my work now in the one software (which for years has been what many photographers have yearned for)... however, i cant work out how to do one thing which would help. One of my last steps is to open curves in PS and pull down the 255 to 252 and raise ' to 3 (on the RGB curve) also to add a bit of an s curve to compensate for the lask of contrast which results (this is important as most of my clients are magazines/stock agents that require this).... can anything like this be done in the LR tone curve? your help appreciated oh wise ones...Mark

You can open a raw file into ACR through Photoshop and set this in the point curves. Save the settings(make sure to deselect everything besides Point Curve) and restart Lightroom. Your curve settings will show up in the point curve drop down menu in the Tone Curve palette.

It's the same method that people use to create wacky presets like solarization and negatives. But good lateral thinking (an ego-protecting way of saying I'd read the original post and hadn't come up with the right answer)!

I didn't even think of the preset method! My guess is that the settings started showing up about the time connected the ACR cache to Lightroom. 1.4? Not sure.

well, I knew it was worth asking! truly superb, thanks very much, this will save me a lot of time, I can now do a lot of my files without having to open PS...now all i need is a keyboard shortcurt for that one!?Mark
