2017 iMAC i7 4.2GHz main memory

When I ordered our iMacs back in 2017 they had only 8GB of 2400MHz DDR4 memory. I added 16GB more memory to save several dollar. So that was 24GB of 2400MHZ memory.

Today I replaced the 4 modules with 2 new ones that are together 32GB of 2667MHz DDR4. Nice to have a bit more memory and at a faster bus speed.

One of the great positives of the iMac,, being able to upgrade the memory!!! And it makes a big difference to Lightroom and Photoshop to be sure.

I did several things to speed up the iMac and Adobe apps:

1. put in 32GB of memory of a faster speed (2666MHz)
2. turned on the GPU support for editing and display for Lr and Ps
3. updated all images to process version 5 (so acceleration would work)
4. moved all data from HDD RAID 0 to NVMe SSD RAID 0.

And I did not have to open my iMac for any of these.
