2.2 to 2.3 Issues

Hi

Never had any probs with slider lag in 2.2 BUT loads now with 2.3. Why should the upgrade slow things down. I am using a nvidia GeForce 88'' GT so I am assuming the settings are going to be different for 2.2 than 2.3.

Please help!

Chris, that doesn't sound right - that is the first report of 2.3 being slower. I guess it will be something to do with versions such as 32v64 bit or something like that but I'll leave you to a Windows Guru.

Chris, as Geoff says, that's definitely not the normal experience.

About the nVidia, that's hard to say, there've been numerous reports of performance being very sensitive to nVidia settings.

Here's a couple of threads here, which also link to threads off-site. Hack your way thru that, and see if any of it's pertinent/ helpful.

Geoff may also have something with the 32 vs. 64 bit thing too, what's your status there?

I did experience briefly very slow dragging on sliders, on LR 64 bit on Vista 64. As this was while I was setting up the new system I can't be sure, but I disabled most of the Penflicks stuff in the system tray and I think the problem went away. It might have been a coincidence, but it's something you might try. I'll have more info tomorrow.

Edit: I should have said, using a Wacom Intuos tablet. Chris, you didn't mention if you are using a mouse or a pen with a tablet, or a normal mouse.

I was using it last night and the sliders were slow and sometimes hesitated for a few secs before they moved to where I wanted them to go. :|

It's still better than v2.2 because if I went too fast it would just crash - though the sliders didn't lag. :)

Update:

I pinned down the behaviour to a specific setting in Pen Flicks. In the Pen and Input Devices > Pen Options > Settings uncheck 'Enable press and hold for right-clicking'.

You can get to the settings from Control Panel if you don't have a Pen Flicks icon in the system tray.
