1.4 keeps muscling in!

Just installed 2.', and so far, so good, except that when I put a new card in the PC, 1.4 launches instead of 2.'

I can't find any settings to stop this, so should I uninstall 1.4 (I suspect not)? Or am I missing something obvious?

At first I had Auto Import enabled, but that wipes the card clean - not a situation I like till I've got all the images sorted, filed and stored safely.

Did you try this? Open Lightroom 1.4.1, go to Edit > Preferences > Import, uncheck "Show Import dialog when a memory card is detected". Click OK. Close Lightroom 1.4.1.

I have now, and 1.4 no longer launches.

But neither does 2.'! I guess it's less of a hassle to launch 2.' than to have to suppress 1.4 as well.

Not sure how it is on Windows but LR2 installs as a completely separate application on the Mac - so I can switch off the import settings on LR141 but enable it on LR2 instead.... am I missing the obvious now?

no not at all, Stas. That's exactly what I did to stop LR1 launching, but now LR2 doesn't launch either, even though the import settings are enabled on it. It's as though there's still some connection between them.

Thanks for your ideas, Stas. It's not really a problem, just a niggling annoyance. I just have to launch it manually. So far, I'm impressed with LR2 and enjoy using it.

Just a thought though. Coincidentally with installing LR2, my hard drive has started doing odd things. It wont see the partition, so I can't boot into Ubuntu (or a partition manager or diagnostics disc) even from a live CD. The PC is only 6 months old, but my IT advisor thinks it's a sign of hard drive problems. Joy.
