ive edited a small folder and noticed that when you do this that mini exif data you get with iso-focal length-apature-shutter speed that falls below the histogram itself will disappear ..........
wishing to get that display of info back i undid everything i did from both library and develop panels, it didnt return and i even closed lr itself and reopened..........why wont this exif data re-appear under the histogram even tho its been returned to its import state as far as i can tell.......going down to page bottom and to metadata it shows there that dimensions and cropped have returned to precrop or both dimensions now read the same inotherwords telling me my "erasures" worked ........seeing as how these photos are back to import state i'd like to have that small amount of data readout restored and "if possible" know what i need to do to always keep it there regardless of edited state or not...thanks i appreciate the forthcoming help

It's a while since I used 1.x, but I seem to remember to read out depends on your cursor position. Move the mouse around and see if it reappears!

in the 4 spaces an _ resides there now instead of the previous data.its not a cursor thing......somewhere i remember reading and now cannot find it in the book or elsewhere that was the tipoff of an edited photo should that be blank up there instead of showing the iso-focal lenght-shutter speed -ect

I still can't quite visualise it Craig... any chance of a screenshot?

If it's the way I'm imagining it, the only way I can replicate on 1.4.1 is to import a photo which has no metadata.

This is it Brad! I also noticed last week that it was sometimes there and sometimes not. I didn't care much because it is not the place I normally look for it. I am not near Lightroom at the moment. Maybe you can explain him how to show the same information above thumbnails? He may prefer that after all while we are looking at the how and when...

Thanks Brad, I thought that was where he meant. The only time I can get lines there is for photos with no metadata (minimize metadata checked on export).

That could explain why I just noticed last week as I was going to import old files from 2''2 (CoolPix 995) beside recent ones (D2'').

Craig, at the bottom of the View menu in both Library and Develop modules, you can configure the information which is displayed in the Info Overlay, that's the white text that appears over the topr left of the image in Loupe and Develop views, as well as what info is shown on the frames in the Grid view. Once you've set these, play with I, ctrl-I, J and ctrl-J to cycle thru the various view options.

I don't know if you caught Victoria's reply, but she said that the only way she can duplicate what you're seeing is by importing photos with no metadata attached. She simulated that by exported some photos, with the metadata export turned off (Minimize embedded metadata was checked.)

i have metadata set to employ on all imports.i deleted a photo that showed the blank lines but not off disk, went and got same photo out of my transferred files to re-import this time with I know metadata is set to employ with any imported photos.......imported it and still nothing 4 blanks lines on histogram box as far as exporting and the minimize embedded data was checked but i did uncheck it for this exercise but whats that got to do with an import? anyway i sure thought that be re-importing with metadata included with all imports this replacement import would have it but alas it does not for some reason.thanks for your input......seems odd though

Craig, we may be talking at cross-purposes. The metadata we're looking for a shutter speed, ISO, aperture, etc. Drop me one of the files and I'll check it for you. (http://www.vbftp.net as before)

ms Victoria, i just put 3 on your upload site.one of a little league catcher and one of a guitarist.the catcher gives no data on historgram or using "all" in metadata selection very darn little while the same for the guitarist except one of him will give everything including histograph data readout but not on the other of it and under "all" on metadata either everything possible or hardly anything at all......now this same senerio holds true for any numerous photos in some folders under folders listings but not others........weird and fwiw the screenshot of histogram posted of those readouts is exactly the place im talking about i believe jim posted over on page 1

it was brads screenshot not jims in looking

Hi Craig

Yeah, I've just opened them in PS and there's no camera data.

At a guess, you've used Save for Web in Photoshop, exported from LR with 'minimize metadata' checked, or used another program that strips the metadata.

That's the reason there aren't any readouts - there isn't any data to show.

thank you.....all that was done was read\download cf card, put contents into its respective new folder in "my transferred files" like any other time, import whole new respective folder into LR........except for the little kid......that was before i had LR and thats the only program i have had......no PS ."just one of those deals i guess" but I thank you once again ms Victoria

Where did the watermark along the bottom come from then Craig?

my watermark came from lightroom.............whenever you export anything (out of library panel) or file and export.....the popup box appears and the 4th selection down (image settings) has a checkbox for "add copyright watermark".......i decide to employ that or not on any export action.......sure hope that didnt get written out of any newer version of lightroom programs.........

Ah ok, well the lack of metadata would suggest that the 'minimize embedded metadata' in the export dialog was also checked.
