hi
i have a question
does the 1.3 render on the fly the thumb or cache them?

have a nice day

I'm not sure I understand the question. It's the same as it was with earlier versions, except that the order of operations on Import has changed. It will now copy files, then generate previews rather than generating previews as the files are copied. Other than that, nothing has changed with regard to preview generation.

And it renders the thumbnail from the preview on the fly, so if you've rendered previews, it's quicker

Question, while we're talking about rendering:

When I intentionally render my 1:1 previews, why does LR still hesitate...ie take a little bit, to show me the full size image when I zoom in loupe? I thought the idea behind rendering 1:1 on import was to eliminate that lag, but LR still seems to be generating the 1:1 view each time I visit the file.

Possibly the time it's taking to read that preview from the hard drive? It's a big file.

Reading a large preview file will still be loads quicker than reading the original raw file.

Really? Why? DPP can read a RAW instantly, and FastStone can decode a RAW in about the same time it takes LR to load a preview.
