So is LR v8.2 ok to install and run on Mac? I read some early accounts of crashing, then the install itself vanished from my Adobe Creative Cloud app (and now that app itself has vanished but that's another story). Are you having success with LR v8.2 on Mac other than perhaps with the new...
The MacBook Pro 13" have dual core and the MacBook Pro 15" have quad core. Generally for any machine you have to look up the specs and it should tell you.
Do any of you know whether quad core is an advantage over dual core when it comes to editing photographs in Lightroom and Photoshop?
I'm debating MacBook pro 13" (dual) vs 15" (quad) and really, I'd rather have the smaller one. The issue is whether the quad core would make Photoshop and...
Glad that worked out but I want to caution about one thing: last I checked (a year or two ago), the XMP approach does not preserve edits of virtual copies. If you use virtual copies you might want to look into this.
This newest version of Lightroom brought with it a new problem: crashing during export of jpegs. I've seen others on the net elsewhere post about this problem. Have any of you exerienced this or solved it?
Thanks,
Art

Are there reports of slowdowns or substantial bugs in the latest revision of LR? I've been waiting to hear feedback on 2015.8 prior to installation, but things seem quiet. What do you hear? Have you tried it?
I have seen reports involving slight interface changes, like the X key no...

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE There was a hardware problem with my machine
Apple "Genius Bar" is running diagnostics now on my machine and finding hardware problems Something having to do with voltage which could feasibly affect graphics (dedicated GPU issue as well as an intermittent...
Yes I used the switch in Lightroom to make the changes. However, I always had the "efficiency" switch turned on in the settings panel. Looking at the activity monitor it is clear that the OS knows that this unit should have access to the dedicated GPU.
The "efficiency" switch is supposed to...

This is helpful, thanks for letting us know. BTW I spent the afternoon at a coffee shop and the new 15" screen is addictive (compared to the 13" on my 2015 MacBook Pro). I plan to take the machine in to a genius bar to ensure that the GPU tests out ok but realistically it's a...
I own a new 2016 15" MacBook Pro with all the CPU and GPU options. Just trying D mode now in a headshot edit that has a lot of pre-existing edits. I was expecting the new GPU (AMD Radeon Pro 460) to elevate this to a new level of speed in D mode. Instead it is utterly unusable, far slower...
What is Adobe doing to improve quality of RAW processing?
There are endless stories on the internet about other RAW engines being far superior for certain cameras.
Are any of you in contact with Adobe personnel?
Can you give them a nudge on this topic?
Let us know what to expect?
Please...
I think that the first 13" MBP to comfortably handle 4k monitors at 60z is the 2015 model. Apple has some online specs about this. Lack of dedicated VRAM and GPU has been a constraining issue until this year. Overall I think the advice above is spot on. Using wide gamut introduces many...
Hi! I upgraded to LRCC from LR5.7 expecting it to run faster, per the advertisement of Adobe, but instead it is much slower in D mode. I have a 2015 MacBook Pro 13" w 16gig RAM, 1TB SSD, at least 10% free. All latest versions of everything except I did not yet do the LR CC update of October 5...
Are you using LRCC? Wondering if it is compatible with El Capitan OS X? Does it speed up or slow down ( I found moving from LR5.x to LRCC resulted in MUCH slower D mode)....
Copyright protection for photos! yikes. How about Smugmug
Wow. I had totally forgotten to ask about copyright protection of photographs in my own consideration of Flickr vs Smugmug. Sigh.
Any more general comments from users of others such as Photoshelter or Zenfolio?
Not just on...
So did the extra RAM help?
I am running on a mid-2011 MacBook Air I5, with the maximum 4 gig of RAM. Am wondering whether I need a new machine or not for photography post processing.
Thanks,
