Hi, Victoria. This dialog window was asking for either a serial number (not my Mac ID or Adobe ID/pwd), or I had the option to purchase Lightroom!
The problem, as I found out, was that I downloaded a 5.7 standalone version from Adobe.
The reason I did that is because the CC tab (on Mac) showed...
Hi, everyone.
I subscribe to CC for Photoshop & Lightroom. I was running Lightroom 5.6.
CC (for the Mac) said there wasn't an update.
So I went to http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=5852&fileID=5888 and downloaded/installed Lightroom 5.7, thinking it would update my CC...
Louie,
I have version 9.74, but 9.76 is the latest version I believe.
[EDIT: I now have 9.76 installed.]
I installed it a few weeks ago using the disk image.

Hi, Louie.
I'm a novice at LR, and even more of a novice at exiftool, etc., so take my attempt at help with a grain of salt
I just took a short video with my iPhone 6, emailed it to myself, then ran the following exiftool command (setting the date to 1975 for this test):
exiftool...
Hi, Louie.
Not sure if this will help, but it's just something to try.
Could you use exiftool or exiv2 prior to import to change the dates?
I just tried it (on a Mac) using a video from my iPhone. I used exiftool -AllDates... to change the date/time fields, then imported into LR. The...
Hi, everyone.
This is a question related to setting correct dates for photos prior to (or after) importing them into Lightroom.
My related discussion a few days ago concerned how Lightroom stores/writes/sees dates in metadata, particularly for old photos that have either been scanned or have...
Hi, Victoria. Thanks for helping me.
Yes, you're right, I think. Some of my old scans don't have exif dates at all, and for those that don't, the LR menu item acts really screwy (or, at the least, very unintuitive and limited in value).
The plugin or using exiv2 or exiftool eliminates that...
Victoria,
Thanks for your help. I had tried the plugin, exiv2, exiftool, and LR's Metadata menu option only on a single photo.
You are 100% correct about LR's menu option assigning different times! Thank you for pointing this out.
When I set the date and time for about 10 photos, LR's menu...
Tim,
I agree about the problem with dates.
Either using LR's Metadata menu (after import) or using exiv2 (before import) seems to be an easy method to create/change this date/time field.
Thanks for your help.

Marc, Victoria, Tim, and other readers:
Thanks for your suggestions. When you (and anyone else interested in this) have time, please look at the 3 scenarios below. I've tested these three methods many times on old photos that do and do not have the Exif date/time field (scans, etc.).
METHOD 1...
Hi, Marc.
Thanks very much for replying and for your suggestion.
Is the Metadata > Edit Capture Time method the one that most photographers would (or should) use to set the captured date correctly?
If I export this image, will this EXIF capture date be included?
Thanks!
Hi, everyone!
INTRO: I'm new to Lightroom. I've gone through a few books and lots of tutorial courses on lynda and youtube, so I feel quite comfortable with LR 5's import process. This post and question is a pre-import/organizational issue.
I have more than 30,000 old, digitized (scanned)...
