Yes, I've found that birds are difficult for not only Lr editing (select subject, etc.), but are sometimes difficult for the camera itself! If the birds are in front of a messy or busy background, the camera wants to find a sharp, contrasty edge to focus on...ANYTHING but the bird itself!
In Lr...
Sorry for the late reply...gone for a few days. I had discovered (after my initial post, of course!) that the problem I was experiencing only happened after I had used the AI masking tool (select subject), just as Rob Cullen and Califdan mentioned. Thanks for the suggestions and the link...
I tried attaching a screen shot of the image I'm working with but I'm told that the file was too large. Here's a description of the photo I am working with: a bird perched on a small twig with a blue sky background. There is twig in front of the bird that I want to erase. No matter which method...
When I go to Help-Updates, while running Lightroom, nothing happens...no update dialogue or any other options appear. I tried logging into the Adobe site, but could not find a way to update from there, either.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
Kathleen
My two cents worth...I recently renamed a parent folder, which contained a dozen or so subfolders. As soon as I clicked to change the name of the folder, ALL of the subfolder went 'missing'. I clicked on each subfolder individually and all but two did reappear when as I clicked on each one...
First--I was successful in finding / moving all the missing images, (except one, see below...). FYI, the system would not allow me to move (drag and drop) the images into "2 Arizona going" . I got an error message saying the file names were too long. I was successful with the renaming of...
OK, that makes sense. I'll run "Find Missing Photographs" again. Thanks!
Here's a Second Problem: I have a folder containing 26 images, some of which are missing (the folder itself is not missing). In the screen shot, you will see a meaningless file name 1YZBEY~H. This a folder whose name got...
Hi again!
In preparing to move Lightroom (and all other data) to a new computer, I began following the instructions in Adobe Lightroom - Moving to a New Computer. I used the instruction "Find Missing Photos" and Lightroom found 67 missing images. I've come up against several problems in...
I must humbly confess that the simple operation of shutting Lightroom down last night, and reopening it this morning seems to have cured the problem. Sometime in the middle of the night this possible solution occurred to me and, sure enough, this morning when I opened Lightroom and went into...
Thanks for your reply, and here's the latest information: I decided to go into Collections this morning and check to see if there was any difference in speed. I discovered that I had missed about 160 files that still had asterisks in their titles, so as I renamed each file one by one, purging...
I do back up my catalog each time I exit and I have 'test integrity' and 'optimize catalog' checked. I've had these three commands checked from the time I began using Lightroom.
I discontinued the use of Collections a few years ago due to the wait time after each task I performed. I didn't...
OK...thanks for the explanation on editing in Collections rather than Folders. I agree with the logic and am convinced...EXCEPT...
(Cletus helped me with this self inflicted problem): I had used asterisks in a ton of folders and got bitten big time when I upgraded to Monterey and the latest...
Thank you Victoria and Y.K.
Below is the screenshot taken after 'hiding' the Parent folder /
If this is what it is supposed to look like, then all's well! (And thank you for the additional explanation).
I have another question:
Recently I requested and received very valuable help with a...
I think I've finally gotten all my folders and images 'found' and named correctly! I thank you so very much for your help and patience! "Thank you" hardly seems adequate, though...the forum is SUCH a valuable resource for non-technical folks like me!
I have further questions, unrelated to this...
Here is my latest problem in trying to get the images in the (corrupted? unlinked?) folders relinked to Lightroom:
I'm working on a folder named "Y 49 Death Valley Apr 2021". There are MANY folders with an asterisk in the folder title, which has caused almost all folders and images to go...
Cletus, I apologize once again....all I have to do is drag the contents into its corresponding folder to remedy it!
I was so upset about the entire "Canada" folder going missing after literally spending two full days reconnecting them that that I have been in panic mode and not thinking...
Whoa! Huge apology...I just logged into Lightroom and all the folders are miraculously healed, question marks gone! I guess when I logged off last night and then logged in again this morning the missing folders/ images got a reset and are now connected.
Now I need to proceed with the problem I...
I have not received a reply to my latest post, above. I am hesitant to proceed or try a solution to the problem without some guidance as I may compound the problem. Requesting a reply, please......
Thanks,
Kathleen
I spent the entire weekend reconnecting all the missing folders, successfully for the most part...(I had a couple glitches that I need to get some help with when I get this latest problem resolved)... but this morning I checked the folder names to insure that they don't contain any illegal...
I was successful in changing the top level folder "2007" in Finder and then in Lightroom (It's no long greyed out with the question mark), but all the subfolders below this parent folder (and all of the individual images) still have question marks. (Many of these folders have asterisk in their...
First...just so you know...most of the incorrectly named folders (2007*, T2008*, 2009*) (parent and subfolders...which is probably 50 to 100 folders) in Finder have changed to meaningless names so I can't easily navigate to the folders. After much searching, I've hopefully been able to...
