I've recently needed to reinstall LR6 on the boot drive of an iMac 27" running under 10.13.6. After running the install, entering my SN I get the select catalog window, I have tried both selecting an existing catalog and also create a new catalog and I get the "Lightroom Quit Unexpectedly"...

The mask is working when I turn it on but I'm not seeing the three parallel lines when dragging the tool with the cursor. I must have something turned off somewhere.

Tim I followed your links and read the articles and the I followed the instructions on trying to find any malware and happily I do not have any of those problems. Also, I'm not running any virus protection software.

Leadfoot, I have not tried this suggestion yet. I think if I remember correctly that I had LR 6.2 when I initially bought this machine about three months ago. Then I went from LR 6.2 to 6.3 where it is presently.
