Lightroom moving to second monitor on its own

Monitor 1 on the right, 2 on the left. Will consider upgrading to Catalina.

Lightroom moving to second monitor on its own

My dock is only on the #1 display, even though I have Displays Have Different Spaces enabled. Running High Sierra 10.13.6.

Lightroom moving to second monitor on its own

Cletus, This is all I get for display preferences. Please note neither display is an Apple display.

Lightroom moving to second monitor on its own

Yes, I have that, and it's setup with the smaller screen (where the dock is) as the secondary monitor. Been that way since the option was introduced.

Lightroom moving to second monitor on its own

I understand what you're saying, but the monitors are different sizes. I would prefer to work on photos on the larger monitor, and not lose that real estate to the dock. I should point out that this started with a LR update several updates ago. When I first set everything up, I had no...

Lightroom moving to second monitor on its own

I am running macOS 10.13 High Sierra, and the dock is confined to monitor 1. There is no dock on monitor 2.

    Catalog Overload?

I have over 300,000 images in my catalog, and the lrcat file is 5.22 gigs. Yes, it makes LR run a little slow. Yes, it takes a while to back up. I can't do anything about how LR runs with a catalog that large, but as far as doing backups is concerned, I do it during meals -- either lunch or...

Lightroom moving to second monitor on its own

Thank you both. My computer is a 2010 Mac Pro, so the monitors are both separate from the machine itself. LR is supposed to be running on Monitor 2, which is the bigger monitor. The Dock is on Monitor 1, which is where LR moves too on occasion. On the LR icon in the Dock I have LR set to...

Lightroom moving to second monitor on its own

I am experiencing an interesting problem with my 2 monitor setup -- every once in a while, LR will simply move to the second monitor by itself. Activating some plugins (such as Silver EFX Pro) will do it. Other times, it just happens for no apparent reason. When it moves, it creates a new...

importing to different folders in same session

thanks for the reply, mcasan. I am, however, familiar with all of that. What I'm curious about is whether or not it's possible to have LR put photos in different folders during the same import.

importing to different folders in same session

I know I can tell LR to import into a specific folder, but is there any way to import some photos into one folder, and others into a different folder, all within the same import session? For one of my clients, I sometimes shoot more than one job during one session, with all of the images...

"Removing" the default develop presets from Lightroom Classic 7.3

Their presence would not bother me, except that I never use them, and LR puts them above all user presets, so my presets that I do use are buried beneath the pile. But they can be deleted. If you prefer, you can move them to another folder where LR can't access them. Here is an excelent...

"Removing" the default develop presets from Lightroom Classic 7.3

I do not need the default develop presets that installed with Lightroom Classic CC 7.3. Unfortunately, they cannot be deleted. I tried deleting the ones buried with the Lightroom.app file (Mac High Sierra). They still show up in Lightroom, and they still work. But they can be hidden from...

Liightroom Classic 7.3 problems with exporting and working in Photoshop

I am discovering 2 problems with the new LR Classic 7.3 that I haven't heard mentioned anywhere, and am curious if anyone else is having these problems as well. The first is exporting to JPG. Of course, my clients all want JPGs. But when I export from A Nikon NEF that's been edited in LR...

    Is Lightroom Classic end-of-life?

I am, as usual, late to this party, but yes, I agree that the Lightroom we've all come to know and love (now called Lightroom Classic) is on its way out, in favor of a cloud based monster that will require us all to "rent" cloud space from Adobe. A great lesson in how to make money -- create...

    Lightroom not reading XMP?

Cletus, I store my photos on external hard drives. Because I often find myself taking a photo into Photoshop for additional work, for many images, I end up with not only the original NEF files, but DNGs, TIFFs, etc, that have been altered in Photoshop. And that means the drives fill up. I...

    Lightroom not reading XMP?

John, Thanks for the reply. Did not know that. Where is that info stored? And how do I recover it? Some of the moved folders have all of their data, collection, virtual copy, all of it. Some do not. Would appreciate any help.

    Lightroom not reading XMP?

I moved a number of files, including the XMP files. I am now missing collection, virtual copy, and other data that should have traveled with the XMP file. I just cannot get LR to properly read the XMP files. Any ideas? I've tried synchronizing the folder, but it doesn't help.

Removing unused external editors from LR menu

I have several external editors that I no longer use. Even though the software has been removed from my computer, they still appear on the Edit In menu. Any idea how to remove them from the menu? It's gotten quite unwieldy. Thanks.

Lightroom CC / 6 -- remove photo from collection

Thanks, Jim. Those are the "old methods" I was referring to. They weren't showing up in the menus, and when I hit the delete key, all it would let me do is delete them from the hard drive. A restart of LR fixed the problem. Everything is now as it has always been.

Lightroom CC / 6 -- remove photo from collection

Does anyone know how to remove a photo from a collection in Lightroom CC / 6? None of the old methods work, and the option to remove from a collection is no longer under Photo. I don't want to delete them from the disk or LR, only from a collection. Thanks.
