    slow to the party

I think you would need to buy one of the Adobe packages. The photographers package for Lightroom Classic CC and Photoshop CC is about £10 now I think for new subscribers. As far as I know, there is no discount for owners of previous versions. I tried Capture One some years ago, but couldn't get...

    New PC

Hi, I'm researching a new PC and trying to decide the best options. I have a budget of ~£1200 for the box. My thoughts at present are for: i5 4690 processor 16Gb Ram Nvidia 1GB EVGA GTX 750 2x Samsung 120Gb EVO SSd for OS/Apps and Photoshop CC, LR cache and catalog and previews. 250Gb Samsung...

You could try Beyond Compare. An excellent program and I think they offer a trial.

    Strange export to JPG issues

Thanks for trying Bob. Weird or what! I'll try it again in a day or so, give LR a chance to settle down.

    Strange export to JPG issues

Hi Bob, I'll put the image up on Windows Live and drop you the link. Thanks for the kind words about my Zen site. Just had a look at yours and there are some wonderful images. :) I have got CS5 and yes, I could use that, but I have got to the stage where I like to do as much as possible from...

    Strange export to JPG issues

Thanks Hal, It just seems odd that it exports such a small file when the limit is set to 200k and can't export at all when set to 150k!

    Strange export to JPG issues

Hi Bob, Thanks for replying. Here's a snapshot of the export setting as requested. There are no discernible differences in the metadata that I can see (It is stripped as part of export).

    Strange export to JPG issues

Hi, I've just been processing some images and thought I'd post them to a forum I belong to. Most exported fine, but 1 image seems to be giving LR problems (and me!!). I have a preset that saves as JPG, max size 150k, sRGB and longest edge 800px. When I try the export I get a message saying...

Thanks Don. I was just curious as I know it got a fair amount of criticism in user reviews I saw.

Import Lightroom 3 catalog in Lightroom 4?

All you need to do is have the LR 3 serial number available. You will be prompted to enter it during the installation. :)

Import Lightroom 3 catalog in Lightroom 4?

Yes it is possible to upgrade. All you need to do is install the upgrade. It will ask for the serial number for LR 4 and that's it. It should pick up the serial number for LR3 from your system. Once installed, it will identify your LR 3 catalog and ask you to confirm that you want to upgrade it...

    Lr4 & acr 7.0

ACR is part of PS and yes, ACR 7 will be part of CS6. You can upgrade to CS6 or alternatively, you can either convert your images to DNG and edit in CS5 or you can get LR to save the file as TIF/PSD and still edit in CS5.

    I'm a bit cynical about Plugins....but

I use Silver Efex Pro on occasion for B&W conversions. It does a first class job.

    UNDOing strange things

Hi Jim, I'm not sure what happened but at the moment it's working. :) I suppose it's to be expected now that I'm using LR 4 in earnest that I'd start experiencing issues. I've got plenty of images to work on and now is a good time to get cracking on them. It's started snowing today and it's...

    UNDOing strange things

Hi Jim, no I didn't reset prefs, but I did close down and restart, which did the trick. Although the first restart produced a different response. It was like pressing 'G' and returning to grid view. Curiouser and curiouser. How are you finding the RC? I might download that and give it a try...

    UNDOing strange things

I've been working on some images from my recent trip to the west coast and came across a puzzling problem. Ctl+z and even Edit>Undo no longer take me back a step. Now, strangely, it applies a preset instead. It's always the same one, Yesteryear, which, as it's a LR preset, can't be deleted or at...

    Losing Original Capture date/time

Hi Anissa and welcome. Do you mean Loupe view when you say 'in preview'? If so, you can set the overlay to show automatically and with your choice of data to display. Go to View>View Options (Cmd+J) and click on the Loupe View tab. There are 2 alternative displays Info 1 and Info 2, just select...
