How do I check all photos are in their right date-based folders?

I've just done a test copying 10,000 raws (300 GB) into a single folder (I don't shoot more than a few hundred in a month normally, but thought it'd be fun to test!). Turns out Windows Explorer didn't flinch at it, I was amazed. So think I'm going to go down the folder-a-month route. It didn't...

How do I check all photos are in their right date-based folders?

Thanks for taking the time to go through all that. But yes, I was hoping for something a little less tedious! I guess it's just not possible within Lr then, and I need to dig more into shell scripting. I have my panels on solo mode, but I must admit I'm always popping the folders panel out to...

How do I check all photos are in their right date-based folders?

Thank you. But that's an excellent answer to a different question, I obviously did a poor job of explaining myself! I have many hundreds of such folders, and I just want to check that the images are in the right folders.

Virtual copies from Classic in LrCC

Oh that could work - select all in Classic, filter for VCs and remove them from All Synced. I'll have a ponder... Thanks!

Virtual copies from Classic in LrCC

Thanks for the idea Jim, I hadn't considered that. But thinking about how many virtual copies I create and delete on the fly as I'm playing around with comparing edits in Classic, I think that would be too convoluted even for me!

Virtual copies from Classic in LrCC

I'm trying to come up with a workflow for using Classic and CC together, where I've got all the full quality originals stored in Lr cloud storage (because I thought, oh well my life just isn't complicated enough already!). When I'm not in a hurry to edit, I'll import into CC, wait for...

How do I check all photos are in their right date-based folders?

In the process of moving a load of photos to an external disk, I somehow copied a bunch into the wrong places. I was doing some of it within Lr, some of it outside of Lr and resyncing the folders (I know, I know, but the photos didn't have edits and it was the quickest way to tame the chaos!)...

Adding profile to LR CC on iPad - How to?

I'm really excited. Is that a bit much?

Library module Each new collection adds sequence number to file name

Lyn, I see you're on 7.3. Have you updated to 7.3.1 yet?

Library module Each new collection adds sequence number to file name

Oops just realised you've done this. This makes NO SENSE! I-S-L: What are we missing?!

Library module Each new collection adds sequence number to file name

Sorry Lyn, I think I confused you! I know it's quick and simple to do. But what I mean is that if something you're doing during that process is triggering the weird stuff then it would be great to be able to pinpoint exactly which part of that sequence of actions is causing it. If what I See...

Library module Each new collection adds sequence number to file name

Also, that's quite a few steps between Everything-Being-Okay and Crazy-Impossible-Stuff-Happening. Might be worth doing each of these things one at a time and checking the filenames between each tiny step and see what the last thing you do is before the filenames change. None of the steps should...

Library module Each new collection adds sequence number to file name

What do you see when you look at the folder in Windows Explorer rather than in Lr's folder panel? Multiple copies of each file? One copy of each with the original name? One copy of each with the new name?

Yep, exactly what I meant but didn't say :)

    Unwanted CC warning in Classic

Lightroom is VERY Slow- and not in the usual ways.

Here are a few things you might like to try, if you haven't already: Create a new, temporary test catalog (back up your main one first in case you make any mistakes!). Import perhaps 100 images into it. Play with it, do the things that normally fail and see what happens. Try that temporary...

    Unwanted CC warning in Classic

Glad it's (hopefully) kept the annoying message at bay! People sometimes have a problem with it signing them out. If that happens and it complains to you again, make sure to install the Creative Cloud desktop app, and make sure you sign into that. But hopefully you won't run into that issue and...

    Unwanted CC warning in Classic

I have a feeling you have to sign in to CC for Lr to know that you're paying for it, and for it to continue to let you use it (I may be wrong, but I think so). So I'd suggest you sign in, but then press pause on sync. Although nothing should sync anyway unless you set a collection to sync in the...

    Unwanted CC warning in Classic

Try clicking the notification area (top left, where it says "Lightroom") - will it let you pause syncing? It might not if you haven't set it up, I don't remember...

    Moving folders within a drive

Perhaps you can't see where you want to drag it to? If that's the case, right-click (or whatever it is you Mac people do to get a context menu ;)) the top-most folder in your folder tree, and select Show Parent. Keep repeating until you can see where you want to end up.

    “Automatically write changes into XMP”

Yeah, I might do the same. I turned it on with the mindset of insurance against Lr being mysteriously discontinued in the middle of the night one day. But in hindsight if that happens I think I'll have bigger things to worry about ...

    “Automatically write changes into XMP”

Any idea if CrashPlan is smart enough to only upload the changes rather than the whole DNG?
