What is your Smart Preview setting in Local Storage prefs?
I am in a similar situation to you and have Smart Previews unchecked in prefs. The Lightroom Library on my laptop is currently 28GB. With Smart Previews checked it says it would need 103GB. My Library has 78,000 photos/581GB originals...
I am interested in doing this and tried about eighteen months ago without success. Before I try again with the benefit of this thread, can I make sure I am understanding the end result correctly?
You have the LR Originals on an external drive.
You can plug the external drive into either of two...
Victoria has just clarified it in the Blog comments:
A 20GB Photography Plan taken out before 31st Jan 2020 will include Photoshop for iPad, but not after that date.
A 1TB Photography Plan taken out at any time will include Photoshop for iPad.
Reason for possible delay is that it seems initially a very limited product, so I might wait. But if it is included "free" before Jan 31st 2020 I might go for it anyway.
I am on a chat with an Adobe rep who doesn't know anything about 31st Jan 2020. I wonder what the Blog is...
Not sure where to post this.
I am currently on the Lightroom 1TB plan for £9.97pm
I want to move to the Photography Plan 1TB which will add Photoshop and Lightroom with 1TB for £19.97.
I understand that anyone on this plan is automatically entitled to the new Photoshop for iPad for no extra...
I can't see that Victoria said TM backup drives have to be APFS?
There is absolutely no doubt that they have to be HFS+. Read the Apple link I posted or try using an APFS drive as TM backup drive.
I think there are some misunderstandings, maybe by me, in this thread!
1. Yes we also have two iPhones which connect to the same Lr account without problem.
2. That is a puzzle then! I am out of suggestions.
A slight correction/addition to what I wrote earlier...but not relevant to your problem.
I realised of course that the "Allow Lightroom to use camera"...
iPad photos taken on the Apple camera are being imported automatically into Lightroom on my wife‘s iPad.
What are your iPad settings in Settings > Lightroom? On our phones there is an option to “allow Lightroom to access Camera”. The iPad strangely doesn’t have an option to allow the the...
Where should I type "album" ? In the search box?
If I do that I don't see any "not in any album" in the drop down.
Might that be because I am pretty sure mine are all in albums, or am I doing something wrong?
The Local Storage preference settings on my iMac is as attached. Local storage of Originals is unchecked. Note that the location for local storage is shown as an external drive called "Photos" which is unsurprisingly greyed out.
But if I look at "Photos", there is a folder called "Lightroom...
I have now switched plans from 1TB Photography to 1TB Cloudy. Unlike when I last changed plan, there is now a switch plan option, it wasn't a cancel and re-purchase. This was extremely painless, quick and easy, even though it was a downgrade. And I will get a small refund. This may...
Thanks very much again!
That sounds like you can have two plans on the same Adobe ID....is that really possible?
If so, then certainly a 1TB Cloudy Plan (five seats), plus a 20GB Photography Plan (two seats) would be a better way of spending £20 pm than a single 1TB Photography Plan (two...
Thanks again Victoria. Can you confirm that if I switch from Photography to Cloudy I will still be able import to Classic but not edit (and probably other things). Can I organise? Ie create new folders and move photos around?
Last year I started on the 20GB Photography, then went 1TB Cloudy...
Thanks Victoria ! Presumably done because of the upcoming availability on the Apple Store.
The change to five adds a new dimension. I asked here recently about licensing three computers. This is probably enough to make me switch from the1TB Photography Plan to the Lightroom Cloudy plan. But...
FWIW the 9to5 Mac review (Lightroom for the Mac App Store is now available - 9to5Mac) included this comment:
“Customers can still use Lightroom through Adobe’s Creative Cloud suite with the same subscription rate, or enjoy the benefits of the Mac App Store for managing updates and easier...
Yes that is the key question! Most apps available from both the Mac App Store and the Developer are updated separately (Apple Store usually later), so I think Lightroom would be an exception, but maybe not unique.
The other question is that apps from the App Store can be used on five devices...
Now that Lightroom is available from the Apple Store is there any reason to switch from Adobe store to Apple Store?
The price is the same so the considerations are probably around updates?
Presumably updates will come from the Apple store, so maybe no need to have the always running Creative...
I have the 1TB Photography Plan (LRCC, PS, Classic, 1TB) which allows me to activate two computers at the same time. I currently have my two Macs activated but would like to also activate on a Windows laptop.
The choice seems to be:
1. Buy a license for a third computer....can't see any info...
An extension to this idea is to create an album called "All Photos" and click the store locally option for that. I have 75,000 photos and the smart previews use about 120GB. If you make this All Photos album the auto-import album it will stay up to date.
Learned that tip on this great forum.
