Looking for advise on mobile workflow with LR Classic

I sometimes travel and shoot sports so that means that I sometimes have 2000-3000 images in 2-3 hours, on the other hand I had a similar number for a 10 day work day trip so the number varies a lot for me. But that WD disk seem interesting ... the backup process seem really easy.

Looking for advise on mobile workflow with LR Classic

I hope this is the right forum for this question I'm looking for some sensible way of handling my photos when traveling. I better start with some background info I'm using LR Classic (I'm not interested in LR CC but have looked at other alternatives for use on my Mac). Since I want to travel...

    Tethering problems (D4s + MacBook Pro 2017)

After some further digging I've solved the problem - there is a plugin that need to be activated. When I first tried this on my laptop I actually checked all over since I remembered that I sometimes had seen the text "nikon" and "tether" somewhere. I checked the preferences, the plugins, etc...

    Tethering problems (D4s + MacBook Pro 2017)

Unfortunately that doesn’t seem to work either, at work I tried when connected to my ThunderBolt dock but it didn’t work either (when I used capture one it worked just fine).

    Tethering problems (D4s + MacBook Pro 2017)

I've followed the troubleshooting instructions given by Adobe, nothing worked until I came to the point of "installing some other software and try" ... well, Capture One works perfectly. I've contacted Adobe Support but the guy do I chatted with me said something that got me a bit confused...

    Tethering problems (D4s + MacBook Pro 2017)

I decided to try tethered shooting and bought a tethertools cable and tried to connect my MacBook Pro 2017 laptop with my Nikon D4s ... when I start the session from LR it just says that it's waiting for a camera to show up, that's all. So I took it to my old Mac Mini and tried there, and it...

Finding photos that are not in an album?

I’ve been trying to find a way to find photos that are not in an album but I must be missing something. How can I do this?

Publishing to for example Flickr or Smugmug

Yes, it’s not realistic for large volume shooting. Tomorrow, for example, I’m going to shoot two sport events and I expect to come home with 30-60 GB of photos. For these occasions the photos goes directly into my desktop. I agree on trying on the fun part of trying to figure out a good way of...

Publishing to for example Flickr or Smugmug

:) I'm happy to hear that my findings are correct. I've been experimenting and doing similar things as you and ended up with my LR CC + LR Classic solution.

Publishing to for example Flickr or Smugmug

I’m pretty sure that the answer to my question is “No” but to be 100% sure that I haven’t missed anything I’ve found a workflow that works for me which involves Lightroom CC on laptop/iOS and Classic on my “photo computer”. Assume that I want to publish stuff to Flickr/Smugmug/etc from...

    Advice on getting new hardware

Thanks, for your comments. To say that I'm most used to Mac is probably an understatement ... I've been using them since 1986, next up is unix/linux for about the same time (but not as often) and on the third place ... far behind the other two is Windows (although I wrote Windows programs for...

    Advice on getting new hardware

Yep, same as me ,,, this works very nicely. If you wander about why I'm not using my laptop instead of the mini it's because it's my work machine and they think that I should use it for work related stuff instead of photography ... silly ideas they have. But I actually prefer editing on the...

    Advice on getting new hardware

My experience from this is using the previous iPad Pro model. My setup is iPhone & iPad + MB Pro 2017 + Mini ... oldish 2013? 2014? Mini is the photo machine - running LR Classic, laptop runs LR CC same thing with iPhone/iPad. Workflow (quick description) is to import on any device which means...

    Advice on getting new hardware

Hi, I need some advice on buying a new computer, or at least planning for buying a new computer. Currently I’m using an older Mac Mini that is solely set up for use with my photography (just a hobby). I'm using Lightroom Classic (together with the iOS CC versions) and unfortunately the computers...

    What is "slow"?

Thanks, I'll check. The backup part is OK - same people consider me paranoid :D

    What is "slow"?

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I've optimized the catalog with no improvement. I've also checked the internal disk using the builtin Disk Utility program but it doesn't find any problems. Hmmmm ...

    What is "slow"?

The last month or two Lightroom has started to become too slow for my taste ... but is it slow or is it me? Two examples: I'm viewing a folder and try to scroll the thumbnails, I then have to wait 5-10 seconds (or more) before any scrolling happen. This doesn't happen every time but perhaps 50%...

Export to folder hierarchy by date

I want to do a favor for some family member and export 5-6000 photos into a folder hierarchy by date. So I want the output files in a hierarchy like this: |-2016 |-----11 |---------05 |---------06 |---------07 |-----12 |---------15 I can't figure out how to do this. Can anyone tell me how to...

Creating smart collection that refers to a specific static collection

Sorry about not using the proper terminology, with "path" I meant the "path" you travel through the collection sets from the "root" to a specific collection. Too bad that there is no way the specify a specific collection in a hierarchy. I need to figure out a sensible way to name my...

Creating smart collection that refers to a specific static collection

I'm trying to be a good boy and clean up my lightroom catalog a bit. One of the things is to add all interesting photos to a collection ... this worked just fine but when I was going to use these collections for publishing a stumbled across a problem. I've set up the collections in an...
