The situation I described in the first post happened to me, it's not just trying to find bugs.
And I did not realize immediately that I had two VC of the same name, and I could not understand why some development changes were , sometimes, not applied, because I was looking at the 'other'...
Thanks clee01 for the explanation, which makes sense.
However, that there is an explanation does not mean, IMHO, that it's not a bug, or at least let's say an annoyance, because the result is that two photos have the same name, a situation that one tries to avoid.
I think I found a small bug in LR, and I would like someone to confirm please.
. create a virtual copy #1
. create a virtual copy #2
. delete VC #1
. create a VC : it will be named VC #2 , so you have now two VC with the same name.
. but if you create a VC now, it will be #3 !! Strange ...
The WAL file is a log (journal) of updates to the catalog, not yet written to the catalog itself. If the WAL file is present, it means either LR is not closed, or it was not closed properly (power failure or abort.).
In both cases it's not a good idea to back up the catalog, the backup will be...
If you really want the best printing quality, and are ready to do some testing, then have a look at Qimage Ultimate.
I am using it for years, and from time to time doing comparisons with LR ....
If you don't buy it, there is still a lot of information on printing quality.
For information, Thunderbird is a mail client and runs on PC, MacOS, Linux, Linux 64bits.
It is developed by the same foundation as Firefox (Mozilla), excellent program !
It uses real attachments.
OK, I try to summarize :
You scan your 128 images in 2x3 ratio.
How do you arrange them in the 30x40 document ? Assuming the document is vertical, that's 8 columns x 16 rows = 128
Can you print directly from LR ? You can define a 30"x40" paper no problem, but the maximum contact sheet you can...
Assuming I understand correctly what you want to achieve, you have to
. create a new document in PS in 3x4 aspect ratio, as Louie said 3000x4000 pixels would not give very good quality, so say 6000x8000 pixels
. arrange the 128 images into that document
. export it
. send it to Costco and ask...
It's easy to duplicate a standard collection, but a publish collection , albums and album sets, may have quite a few parameters and I was looking for a way to duplicate approx 60 albums from one environment to another.
When did you do the copy/paste :
. before the problem occurred ? then you did it when LR was executing, so the copy is probably not usable , the catalog might be in an inconsistent state
. after the problem occurred ? when LR was closed ? then you should find the lock file in the original...
" re-import them by month and day, "
Use the library filter, metadata, and date for a given subset of images, one 'old' folder for example.
You get them sorted by date, and from there you move them to new month folders within LR.
You won't lose collections or anything since you stay within...
As I said, you can rename during export like : yourname-date-yourrefnumber , assuming your ref number is unique for any day. you will be able to retrieve the photo later in LR with the date and ref number.
another (big bang) option is to rename all photos of your catalog, if they are not...
If your images have a unique ref number, you can of course use it for exporting, I would suggest : yourname-yourrefnumber.
If not, you could rename your photos during export like this : yourname-date-yourrefnumber.
The best is to have a unique ref number for all images in the catalog during...
Here is the error message.
I think I made a wrong interpretation of the word 'slug' in the message, I am not sure anymore it's the same as the field 'slug' in the gallery description?
Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks Louie, I have been in Docs & support already , no luck.
Sorry to insist, but I get the error message when trying to rename an album name, which is in fact a LR collection. I believe there is a 'phantom' collection in LR which contains the same 'slug' name.
A LR publishing service is used in order to define and update the TTG web gallery. TTG CE4 is indeed quite old but has been used by many people; the problem I mention today was already present in LR 6.
Thanks for answering.
The publish service is for a web gallery from 'The Turning Gate'.
I don't think it's a problem with the plug-in. The error message is from LR, and basically it says the 'slug ' name, which is stored in the catalog, is a duplicate.
The slug name is part of the...
Within a publish service (TTG CE4), I want to rename the album names.
Some renames are successful, others get an error message :
"Duplicate gallery found
if you proceed, this gallery will have a number appended to the slug"
I vaguely remember that some years ago I created some albums that were...
