    Thanks for your reply. Yeah, I knew that but I was looking for a more visual solution. Something like the attached screenshot to distinguish between the drives would be perfect but I reckon it can't be done.

    I have 3 external drives mounted in Lightroom - Silver 1, Backup and Deletion. See pic. When I am finished with a shoot, I move the final candidates to external storage - Silver 1 or Backup. I then move the rest of the photos to the other external drive - Deletion. These get deleted months...

    Thanks guys. I think the best method for me is the "travel catalog" method. It saves me moving the original catalog around.

    Thanks DGStinner. So, it appears that both options are viable then. However, at the moment I think the "travel catalog" idea may be best as it avoids the "versioning" issue. I'll wait to see any other opinions. Thanks.
