    Lightroom Classic vs. Lightroom "ecosystem"

Only because the mobile devices have a different concept of Storage. In either case Lightroom is looking at files in their storage location. The Lightroom concept of "local" files is still the same regardless of the storage system.

Is it possible to select images of Birds but not the images of specific birds?

What Dan did not explain is the use of the NOT clause in the phrase. By placing the ! in front of a keyword excludes images containing that keyword. So if you want to exclude any image that contains a species of bird, then you have to preceed each species name with the !

    Lightroom Classic vs. Lightroom "ecosystem"

In the mobile Lightroom app "Local" is called "Device". And it should be pointed out that there is no sharing between devices and desktop if you use Local/Device. One of the big advantages of using the Cloud Ecosystem that is lost when using "Local/Device" is that you lose the main purpose...

    Spotlight Issues On Mac

I'm not a fan of Spotlight either for the following reason. Spotlight works continually in the background consuming (too?) many CPU cycles. I've turned off most of the search features except files. The author of the video has a complaint about the inadequacy of Spotlight in its search...

This is not the system info that I asked for although it does tell me that to have a basic Silicon M3 Mac. With 8-core CPU with 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores 10-core GPU. 24GB of Unified memory Your Silicon chip is a little under powered. to handle the AI intensive processes...

    Lightroom Classic vs. Lightroom "ecosystem"

You might find this article useful: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/lightroom-cc-vs-classic-features/ Most notably, (for me) is the lack of a print module in Classic as well as a robust Keyword system, Programable Smart Collections and Publish services. That said, I use both concurrently...

    spinning rainbow of death

Not really. While Lightroom is multi threaded and multi tasking able to do several tasks concurrently, the size of the catalog is irrelevant. What does help sometimes is to clears any orphaned records and other detritus from the catalog file. What is the size of your catalog file?

Upgraded from iMac to Mac mini and LR 6 not working

This is probably best since LR6 is over 10 years old and well past its prime. Adobe no longer supports it. Your master catalog will be a file with the ".lrcat" extension. You can search using Finder for all of your ".lrcat" files. One will be the master.

    spinning rainbow of death

If you have an Intel Mac, you may not have a GPU and VRAM adequate for your images . Anything larger than 24mp is probably going to put a strain on an Intel Mac or an M1 Silicon Mac. If you can copy the contents from the menu {Help}{ System Info} into your reply we can evaluate.. The new AI...

Assisted Culling can be done at any time (before import, before editing, after editing, during editing). It is done on a group of images and has no relationship to other AI processes. Adaptive Color is one of the color profiles to be used at the start of Develop DeNoise is only needed IF...

Develop module How to get 4 equal sized pictures into a 'tryptic style' arrangement

Please answer this question: Is this your printer? Brother HL-L2370DW monochrome laser printer If not then what Printer make and model do you have? The screen shot you posted earlier lists this printer Brother HL-L2370DW. If it is not your printer then you have loaded the wrong print driver...

Also 4X5, 4X6 , 5X7, 8X10, 11X17,13X19, 17X22 and larger. If you have a photo printer you need to to use photopaper in a size that the printer can handle. I have a Pixma Pro-100. The largest width it can accommodate is 13". So a 13X19 print is the largest I can make with my printer. I can...

I Might Be Doing Something the Wrong Way

Welcome to the forum.. It sounds like you want to start with an empty catalog file. I would begin by making a backup up your master catalog. That way if things go sideways, you can always revert to the back up copy . In your catalog, select all images Choose REMOVE them from the catalog...

https://www.lightroomqueen.com/move-photos-another-hard-drive-leaving-catalog/ This is a general computer question. It helps if you understand file systems and how they work. A computer file name consists of three parts: The file name itself (e.g. IMG_1234) the path to it (e.g. /Volumes/WD...

From this point, I think it will be tedious work. You will need to find missing image files and folders either in the filesystem or in an extreme case, Time machine Backups. then once located move them to the folders path where the Classic catalog expecsts them.

In Finder, just move the 2014 folder to be a sub folder of the "Lightroom Photos" folder. There are path fields in the catalog file. for the 2014 folder that fields says something like ".../Lightroom Photos/2014/". Currently, the filesystem has this folder in a different path. You need yo...
