Very good answer and makes a lot of sense.

And the spec of the GPU or is it a motherboard based GPU. If a laptop, make and model of the laptop would help.

Library module Side Panels Keep Collapsing

Thanks for the clarification. I will check it out in more detail when I get back to my office tomorrow. I use a really good gaming mouse… which is very accurate and precise… so that may be a reason I do not bump into the problem.

Library module Side Panels Keep Collapsing

Do you have the side panels in manual mode. Then they only collapse when you click on the tiny triangle/arrow. I think if you right click on the little triangles you can select the different types of panel behaviour.

I would empty the rubbish bin, in case possible items marked for deletion are included.

Library module My files really are missing

In parallel to any other activity I suggest spending a little time becoming familiar with the following mini app called Everything. https://www.voidtools.com/support/everything/ This is a tool which can be used and configured on your PC. It is superb. Lots of people, including me, use it...

Wacom Intuos & sliders in LrC / Ps / Lr

There may be Wacom Pen specific settings which may influence the overall Wacom experience. I locked my mouse away for 3 months to try the Wacom pen and become intuitive in its use.. but failed miserably. I replaced it with a gaming mouse (because I could add a few shortcuts to extra buttons on...

Library module LrC and Explorer show the same folder and images in different locations even though file paths are the same

Thanks for confirming. Makes sense (and understand the 'any time' remark). Final related question. Should all images with case sensitive errors appear in the Find Missing Images collection. [ or is their a method to identify if a folder name is a possible case sensitive issue candidate.]

Library module LrC and Explorer show the same folder and images in different locations even though file paths are the same

I suspect as the vast majority of images imported to LrC are from sd cards and so minimise the potential for case sensitivity issues. Further, most renaming is done inside LrC (I know.... not all), so lots of sensitivity issues avoided. I suspect images from other sources, such as scanning or...

    Develop module Generative remove failed

Is it worth checking / changing the DNS server settings at Mac or router level. At least check what DNS server is configured for the OP system and get feedback here as to what might be most appropriate for the OP.

Library module LrC and Explorer show the same folder and images in different locations even though file paths are the same

Is it a DCIM standard that all folder / file names captured onto SD / CfExpress cards are uppercase. I picked up a vibe some time back that the Capitalisation problem first reared its head in the early days of Photoshop.

Develop module Bracket keys control brush size only after adjusting brush with the mouse.

My experience in LrC has been that once a brush is active… the square brackets to adjust brush size are effective. Have you tried just typing the square brackets into a plain text editor… just to check they have not been remapped. Another gottcha is either a faulty keyboard or something like...

Library module LrC and Explorer show the same folder and images in different locations even though file paths are the same

What scenario causes this to occur… I move external drives regularly between Windows and Mac and would like to preemptively avoid creating a problem. I understand the sorting issue…

Library module LrC and Explorer show the same folder and images in different locations even though file paths are the same

I just noticed the Pictures folder is on the D drive, so it may not be inside OneDrive... but the caution is still worth noting.

Library module LrC and Explorer show the same folder and images in different locations even though file paths are the same

Make sure your catalog is not in the Microsoft OneDrive ecosystem. Adobe puts catalogs by default into the Pictures folder and Microsoft puts the Pictures (and other folders) into OneDrive. This is a known source of catalog issues (possible with any Cloud Synch service), especially if using...

HD backup help needed for a trip to Japan

When I was researching the viability / feasibility of using a new iPhone as a portable backup device I was frustrated by the lack of available data on transfer speeds. I visited Apple retail outlets and talked to their techie staff.. but no one had the details. I was not allowed test this...

HD backup help needed for a trip to Japan

I bought an iPad pro specifically for Lr travel. I was seduced by the USB C port, so got an ipad which was too small storage wise for a typical trip, as for LrMobile, the images must be on the ipad, not an external ssd. So if using an ipad (or iphone) for Lr mobile use ... make sure you have...

HD backup help needed for a trip to Japan

I have bought every portable storage in an effort to back up cards without a laptop for travel. My most recent tool has been a MacAir... but I needed to upgrade my iphone recently and got a...

Import Which file(s) to back up?

Not sure …. What typo. Just fyi. When travelling I use Beyond Compare to copy cards to disk. The reasons are several. 1. For a particular trip I can create a preset so that the source and target folders are preconfigured. 2. I like the way I can view the contents of a card, with options to...

Import Which file(s) to back up?

If you are only backing up your stills images then the DCIM and its subfolders are key. If you are recording video clips also.. then my recommendation is to backup the entire card ...... or .........pay attention to the following. I have just written a utility to Ingest images from cards to...

Develop module Upgraded my GPU and performance became almost unusable

I had (and still have) an occasional issue with my Benq monitor. I was not certain if it was my monitor or 4070Ti was the issue. The idea I had to track it down was to attached a second ( small) monitor to the motherboard GPU.. and when a glitch occurred on my main screen observe if the same...

Develop module Upgraded my GPU and performance became almost unusable

On installing my 4070Ti (replacing my prev ext gpu) and resolving gpu cable issues I still had gpu related issues. Develop module Upgraded my GPU and performance became almost unusable

If I have modest simple masking / healing edits I am delighted I can do it quickly and efficiently in LrC. If these edits are in any way extensive or complex I will complete such edits in Photoshop for at least 2 reasons. 1. The masks created in LrC (as well as Ps) can be massive and can add...
