Thanks Cletus! It is a Lacie Raid 5 Thunderbolt RAID. The Previews folder is around 375GB I only started building Smart Previews since a month or 2 as that would also speed up the editing. I deviated a bit of your plan by creating a new catalog and importing 18000 pictures from my old catalog...- Christiaan

Hi all, In general I am very happy with the performance of Lightroom there is just this one "wait" that happens once during each edit session which is inconvenient.
