Sync done.
I noticed something odd in this whole sync process:
So to get to Lr Classic there are several sync steps:
Step 1. Camera roll to Lr Mobile app, Device tab
Step 2. Lr Mobile app: up sync from device tab to Lr CC Cloud
Step 3. Lr Classic: down sync from Lr CC Cloud to Lr Classic
I do...
Update: the queue appears to have slimmed down to under 20GB, i.e. the syncing is continuing and the cloud storage is steady at 12GB used. So I'll just let it sync for the night and "Remove from all synced photographs" in the morning. It should be done then.
The Lr Mobile app "type" filter...
Duhh, nothing secret about it. They're visible in the Lr Mobile app "Lightroom" tab.
I think I need to let the whole CC sync process sink in a bit more...
I am astounded. As I am clearing up CC cloud storage by going to "All Synced Photographs" and selecting photos and clicking "Remove from all synced photographs", Lr Mobile on iPhone keeps just feeding the queue with more images from Ireland, even though those photos have long been deleted from...
Thanks John for helping out (y).
That is quite a rigorous solution proposal, from which I conclude there is really no way to interfere with the queue.
I will consider it. First I'm going to assess the damage and the time I need to sort everything out.
Thanks!
Huge mistake. I have the 20GB storage option and on my trip to Ireland I thought I’d try out the Lr Sync feature. So in the Lr mobile app settings on iPhone I switched on add photos from camera roll.
when I got some wifi I got some images synced over to the iPad. Used my iPad while on the go to...
Problem solved, but I don't know how. I came back to this issue today, after a month. I added a new keyword "PixieCat" and also kept the issue-keyword "Pixie". When I exported the same photo again, both keywords got exported. After deleting the "PixieCat" keyword from the keywords list (and thus...
Hi Dan, thanks for your suggestions. I have a keyword "Pixie" (our cat) that won't export. I tried "Pix" and that does export, as do all of the other keywords. I examined the Pixie keyword properties but all checkboxes are checked. Should I try to recreate the keyword? Could the database have...
I did some more iPad Pro 11" and 13" handling today in the store. I also brought my 9 year old iPad Air 2 for comparison
I came to some surprising conclusions.
Keep in mind I always use the touch screen, I don't connect a Magic Keyboard so I handhold it all the time.
- On the 13" model, the...
Ah yes I forgot to mention deleting. Good point.
Regarding “offloading by 20GB chunks “, in Lr mobile, how would we be able to know exactly which images have been synced to the cloud and which have not?
Hang on I’m reading victorias ebook and apparently everything is done from LrC as it seems.
Thank you both. My approach has always been to set all to rejected, then flag picks (usually 20-25%) and rate from there: set all images to 2 stars first and then go one by one to rate 3, 4 or 5. This is - for me - the least amount of clicks (or taps).
I can live with leaving all to unflagged...
Hi all,
I am finally exploring Lr mobile on iPad. My usual LrC workflow starts with marking all new images as rejected, then only mark the promising ones as Picks. Is there a way to do that in Lr mobile? I can select some images, yes, but then how do I flag them all at once?
Alternatively, I’d...
Syncing 20GB chunks to LrC might not be so bad. On iPad, one might organise their travel photos in different “albums” (each not exceeding 20GB and named in alphabetical order) , then after getting home, enable syncing. With any luck, syncing will start with the first album, then the next and so...
So I did, today. Thank you for that. And a couple of days ago. I find both very light. My iPad Air 2 weighs 437g. The 11” pro 2024 weighs 444g and the 13” 579g. When I handle the 13”, it seems lighter than my iPad Air 2 where in fact it is heavier. Maybe it’s because it’s so thin for it’s size...
Hi Cletus, I must admit I dislike smart phones for their small displays (even though I have the 14 Pro Max) so for any task that takes more than a couple of minutes I grab a larger screen device, such as my iPad Air 2, which is still in pristine condition. I already use it for watching video's...
Okay that makes sense, thank you for clarifying. So you use the iPad + MKB as a laptop more or less, not as a touch screen device.
Wanting to bypass the travel catalog workflow — to me — is an unexpected angle. Using a travel catalog and “import from another catalog” after coming back home never...
Dear @clee01l , in this post you have described in detail how you use Lr mobile on your iPad as a front end to Lr Classic, along with caveats and limitations. Although we know that you developed this workflow, you did not touch at all on why the iPad is your favourite travel Lr tool. I mean...
Okay so for the most part, I think I can solve my own question: good old Finder (the Mac's version of Windows Explorer). It will search for multiple terms and also look in sub folders.
What I cannot get my head around is that one keyword in Lr Classic appears to fail to export, but that is...
I know, the title may sound weird, but bear with me. I have a fully well treated Lr Classic library with keyworded photos. I am looking for a convenient way to share some smart collections containing practical photos (such as receipts, caravan or car maintenance shots, tyre dates etc.) with my...
I see. I actually meant connecting a USB hub to your iPad Pro and using your iPad Pro to backup the SD / CF cards to the two SSD's using the iPad Pro. But if you bring a MBAir then sure, that is more convenient.
Getting a 1TB iPhone and use that storage just for SD/CF card backups sounds like a...
Ah I see. Well that won't be much of an option while traveling I think.
I will certainly try that. Otherwise I may just bring my old MacBook Pro on travels and forget about using the iPad as a primary photo device.
Thank you for your insights, highly appreciated as always (y)
1TB iPhone storage is very pricy. Wouldn’t backing up to SSDs using your iPad Pro (using a hub) be a more cost effective way, now that you already have the ipad pro? See also here.
Last year I bought the 14 pro max with 256GB, enough storage to carry a four week trip worth of proraw images
