    Time lapse problem

Can't comment much on this except to note that when doing time lapse with a DSLR, the viewfinder should be covered (true any time you do not have your eye looking through the view finder). Otherwise stray light enters the camera and can impact the image under certain circumstances.

    PC vs Mac

I'm sure the different use profiles of different users matters. For me, the choice of cpu is becoming a lesser matter compared to RAM and the GPU fitted (ie, lots of cores do not result in better performance compared to a good GPU). I'm running the old legacy LR 6.14 and even that old version...

LR 6 suddenly fails to load

I still running LR6.14 on W10 latest. I haven't had to reinstall or re-enable though (I'm anticipating difficulties if I ever need to). When I installed 6.14, I started w 6.0, rebooted, applied the 6.14 patch, rebooted and went from there. I wouldn't expect 6.0 to be problem free, it had many...

Blank pictures & unable to delete after export corruption....

Glad to be able to help (a little). I suspect you want this: Lightroom desktop apps (cloud-based service)

Blank pictures & unable to delete after export corruption....

I have just looked at Adobe's list of LR products, and I can see why you might be confused. (So am I BTW.) Adobe in their wisdom renamed their LR products. There is a Cloud based product, which is at version 5.2. I think this is what you have, it is called Lightroom (LR). There is also a...

Blank pictures & unable to delete after export corruption....

Ok. I am pretty sure you have asked this question in the wrong place, and I am the wrong person to help you. And, I can't move your question to the right place (which is Lightroom Classic folder-based, subscription, or just possibly the Cloud Based Service one. Both of those are 'new' LR (LR...

Blank pictures & unable to delete after export corruption....

Are you running with a LR subscription? The reason I ask is that LR Cloudy came out after LR 5, so I suspect this isn't a LR 5 question. LR 5 is a very old product and you mention 'cloud' in your query. Adobe have renamed their LR products and it is possible one of the 'new' versions has a 5...

    Enhanced Search Features

Hi Victoria Ah, I see how you have done it, search for something (has to work) and then the Google option comes up. My first few searches were rejected as too common or too short. Is there a way of adding the same link to the 'something went wrong' page? Cheers

LrC rarely suggesting names for faces

Years ago I used the face recognition and (at first) it was amazing (even 'astonishing') (and I agree, occasionally hilarious). But then as it matched more and more faces (of the same person) it got worse and worse. I switched it off and haven't bothered since, it ended up being a joke for me.

Recommend a free DAM for Am Dram society (Windows)

Good afternoon all. Is anyone able to recommend a DAM for an amateur dramatic society? Their requirement: Free (or very low cost) Windows OS To be used to index costumes Take a photo of each costume and then classify under a range of headings eg: Which production(s) used in What it is (eg...

    Colour Temp Setting

The human (our built-in) auto-white balance capability is truly astonishing. While not exactly answering your question, it is useful to understand the incredible range of lighting conditions that we automatically correct and so perceive the world around us with amazingly consistent colours. As...

A building which is photographed with very tilted camera: the top of those buildings looks very "topheavy"?

Be careful Hal, this is one of those 'sort of true' statements. A tilt-shift can give you much greater depth of field (can make DOF effectively infinite) depending which plane you are looking along. Tilt-shifts can be used to achieve photographic effects that can't be achieved in software...

Imported folders into LR but not in catalog...

Agreed, which is behind my slightly indirect answers previously. However, I have seen this (or something very, very similar) happen to me and it was caused by finger trouble (in my case, ie not catalogue corruption). It was so long ago I have no idea what it was I did wrong, nor how I...

Imported folders into LR but not in catalog...

I responded to: "I'm not sure what filters you are talking about. I've never used filters in Lightroom before." Another way to control what LR displays is via the meatadata filters, that seemed to be too much information, so I didn't mention it. I had already posted: "Johan will know what is...

Imported folders into LR but not in catalog...

So, those photos ARE in the catalogue. You might not be able to display them for some reason but they ARE in the catalogue. Filters are shown bottom right of the Library module. Suppose you have told LR to display only images with exactly four stars and these images do not have exactly four...

Imported folders into LR but not in catalog...

Check the filters you have set. I have an idea I have seen a similar problem, long long ago. The images are in your catalogue, they have to be, if they are in the previous import. It is some kind of display options setting you have wrong. Johan will know what is wrong better than I.

    Enhanced Search Features

Some sites build their site search using Google (the search page says 'powered by Google' or similar), presumably they invisibly use the site: command. There is little point in trying to create a search engine that is in the league of Google's search engine. Perhaps you could mention the...
