    Check CrashPlan - you can set deleted files are not removed from backup. I was using Mozy for years, pay for the unlimited version. But when they changed their plans I switched to CrashPlan.

    I would change a bit the beginning, make some quick deletion before burning to DVD so you are not burning those completely bad pictures.. Also good idea is have another backup than DVD, I use Crashplan which allows you backup to cloud, local disk, USB disk, another your computer etc.)

    You can specify new location and name. I have my old catalog in ..LR3-catalog\photos\photos.lrcat and new one in LR4-catalog\photos\photos.lrcat so old one is untouched.

    Easiest way is to go Help -> Check for updates and download update to LR4. Then only add your purchased key when asked and you are done. Then in that LR you can open your old LR3 catalog and you will be asked if you want to upgrade it to new LR4 catalog. You can choose location of your new catalog.
