Moving LR Image Folders - not Catalog - to New External hard Drive

Thanks Jim, for your input and responses. For the moment, I have decided to not put further effort into to fixing the LR issues. I've quite a lot on my plate, and after consulting with two very close and trusted photographer friends, one of whom is responsible for getting me to use LR way back...

Moving LR Image Folders - not Catalog - to New External hard Drive

Those are the instructions I followed - or tried to. I was quite confused by steps 1 & 2, particularly the steps to 'show the folder hierarchy' and the instructions around selecting a 'parent folder.' I have hundreds of folders and each one is indicated to have a 'parent folder.' Should there be...

Moving LR Image Folders - not Catalog - to New External hard Drive

Hello all - My 2TB external hard drive is finally full, and I need to move my LR folders to a new 5TB external hard drive. My LR Catalog now resides on my MacBook Pro SSD, which is where I want it to stay. However, I prefer to keep my photos organized on separate external hard drives, hence...

    Android/Samsung Galaxy S10+ Users -

I have somehow broken the glass cover over the rear lens on my Samsung Galaxy S10+ phone. There is a distinct lack of sharpness in my images, hence my description of the broken bit as a 'lens.' I'm curious if other Samsung owners have ever dealt with this. Also, is it repairable? or, am I...

    Calling All Mac Gurus...

Well, I didn't make it long...I've restored it to the default. It seems that something, somewhere, along the way was changed.

    Calling All Mac Gurus...

Thanks - that did it. I was able to remove the Guest user icon from my login screen on my MacBook Pro this current one replaced, but it doesn't seem to be an option any longer. Curious... We'll see how soon I tire of typing in both the username and password in favor of a cleaner screen.

    Calling All Mac Gurus...

EDIT: I should add, I'm not wanting to remove/delete the Guest user account, as it serves some purposes...what I want to do is remove the link from login page so it's not visible...

    Calling All Mac Gurus...

I have a new MacBook Pro 16", fully current and updated. How can I remove the 'Guest User' option/account which shows on the login screen? The options for the Guest user are all unchecked/turned off. The 'Find My Mac' option is unchecked/turned off. The 'minus' symbol to remove/delete the Guest...

Moving to new Apple Mini from iMac. Can I use Migration Assistant?

i used the Time Machine method. Once I got the new Mac updated to Big Sur v11.1, it went smoothly and a lot faster than I expected it to.

Moving to new Apple Mini from iMac. Can I use Migration Assistant?

It does indeed make sense - It just never occurred to me! Fortunately, everything seems to be doing well; the only thing I've encountered thus far has been one scrambled bookmark...

Moving to new Apple Mini from iMac. Can I use Migration Assistant?

UPDATE: All is done and seems to be well. The migration didn't take nearly as long as I thought it would, and once I figured out the OS conflict, it was super easy.

Moving to new Apple Mini from iMac. Can I use Migration Assistant?

As regarding my above post - I think I realize the issue - the old Mac was updated to OS Big Sur, whereas the new Mac has OS Catalina. I attempted to migrate from Mac to Mac and it alerted me to the issue... So, the new one is updating now - fingers crossed!

Moving to new Apple Mini from iMac. Can I use Migration Assistant?

Help! I've got the new MacBook Pro 16, and am setting up to do the migration of data from the old machine to the new one via my Time Machine backup...thing is, the new Mac isn't mounting the external drive with the Time Machine backups. The external drive seems to be working, getting warm...

Moving to new Apple Mini from iMac. Can I use Migration Assistant?

Thanks Johan! I do have my Time Machine backup on it's own HD. The articles I was reading on using Migration Assistant presented using Time Machin Backup as just one of many options to do the task - which, of course, it is. I hadn't read about it as the preferred option. Time Machine 'restores'...

Moving to new Apple Mini from iMac. Can I use Migration Assistant?

So...in the few minutes since making my post (above), I've been reading on Migration Assistant and am a bit confused... When moving the LR files from my old Mac to the new, I understand I need to install the LR app on the new Mac first, and that the external hard drive where my image files are...

Moving to new Apple Mini from iMac. Can I use Migration Assistant?

I'll be doing the same thing this weekend from my existing MacBook Pro to a new MacBook Pro. I got so tunnel visioned on the information/how-to in the eBook, (which is very good by the way!), that it never occurred to me to use Migration Assistant. And while I knew of Migration Assistant's...

    Moving to a New Computer...

I'm setting up a new MacBook Pro this upcoming weekend. My Lightroom catalog resides entirely on an external HD. Accordingly, I'm working under the presumption the 'move' will be little more than downloading Lightroom (and other Adobe apps in my subscription) to the new machine; once that's...

    The Inevitable is Upon Me...

Each, a good solution. Thanks for the input. We will see how long this one keeps plugging along. It's the battery which I'm most concerned about; the rest is, at this point in time, little more than 'inconveniences.'

    The Inevitable is Upon Me...

Sort of... The latest Mac OS Big Sur update was the final nail in my coffin of realization that I need to update my 2015 MacBook Pro. Yes, shutting off the GPU allowed LRc to function normally, etc., but there's more to it. I'm doing a good bit more video work these days, and with 4K use now...

Mac OS Big Sur 11.1 Update...

 Is pretty much all I have to say about this - roughly 18 hours in, and I'm about .26 gigabytes from the download finishing...the install hasn't even begun. Apparently, this is not an uncommon thing with this particular update, and based on what I've seen in the various Mac forums, it...
