    Lightroom 6 upgrades

I was under the impression, perhaps incorrect, that when LR 6 was first launched and when it should have been identical to LR CC, 6 did not allow use of the DeHaze functionality that was in CC. I could be wrong but the information I remember is that the engineers had intended for the DeHaze...

    Lightroom 6 upgrades

Yes. I understand the concept. Some of the functionality is "locked" out of use for perpetual users by the state of their license and that is both easy to do and easy to change, so updated versions of LR 6 may suddenly change to LR 7 (or 8, or 9 ... or CC for that matter) with only the...

    Lightroom 6 upgrades

I expect that the CC version is much more up to date and has more advanced/newer features. Adobe is updating it, and the associated PS product, regularly and the subscription model is almost certainly a greater profit center than the perpetual model and that seems fair considering that the...

    Lightroom 6 upgrades

OK. Now I see what you are saying. This was new information for me so I went back to compare the settings. Here is the result of the screen shots and the comparison. As you can see there are two sliders in 6.8 that are not in 6.3, but I am not sure that they add anything really new.

    Lightroom 6 upgrades

It seems like new functionality for LR 6 to me. Version 6.3 did not have that panel and its functionality, LR 6.8 does. How is that only a cosmetic change? Or am I misunderstanding your post?

You directed this post to me but I was not the one who made the statement. I think you meant to direct it to tspear.

    Lightroom 6 upgrades

After I updated I opened LR and saw the Transform Panel and the Upright settings. I had not remembered that from the 6.3 version and I just opened the old version (thank you Carbon Copy Cloner) and, sure enough, there is no Transform Panel in that version. That is what I thought I remembered...

    Lightroom 6 upgrades

Thank you. I guess I need to remember that some information I get from the internet needs to be checked and rechecked to make sure it is not just someone's opinion. I did notice that version 6.8 has functionality that I do not remember being in 6.3 so I guess LR, unlike PS, will be regularly...

    Lightroom 6 upgrades

I bought LR 6.3 some time ago and, having read that there would be no updates or upgrades other than CC, eventually drifted off to other workflow tools (Dxo's Optics Pro and Capture One). I recently returned to LR to check how it worked with some specialized layering tools and, out of curiosity...

How do I change this behavior?

It appears as though the only way to stop this behavior is to create a login, sign in and then, and only then, can you set the setting to Pause. Still, I have gotten rid of the annoying dialog box and I wanted to thank you for the information.

How do I change this behavior?

When I click on the triangle the dropdown box only gives me the opportunity to Sign In. I can not find any way to set it to Paused as is shown in your screen shot. How do I do that?

How do I change this behavior?

I have Lightroom 6.3 and have not been able to figure out how to change some annoying behavior. When LR starts it always tells me that I am signed out of LR mobile and asks me if I want to sign in. I don't use LR mobile and have no wish to use it so I would like to know how to tell LR to not...

    anything besides photoshop

I have downloaded the new OnOne RAW and, as it turns out, none of the features I mentioned in my post are in it. No perspective correction, no HDR, no Panorama functionality, no focus stacking and still no way to flatten the alpha channel out of the photo. I have to say that I did not see much...

    anything besides photoshop

I also own the current version of On1 and I find it helpful, especially for masking, but there are some things I find I need that just are not in On1. For example, there is no perspective control and if I want to adjust the perspective of images from my UWA lens I can not do it in On1. There is...

    anything besides photoshop

I would also suggest Affinity Photo. I have been a beta user since the beginning and, while it is not as flexible as Photoshop, it is a great replacement for the general stuff that I mostly need to do. Added to that it has some absolutely wonderful functionality. I use a Mac and I can only speak...

    Multiple monitors

Clee01|: > Turn this feature off until Apple releases a 10.11.1 bug fix that hopefully will address these issues. How do I do this?

    Multiple monitors

This is exactly what I was trying to do, but could not find a way to make work. I still don't understand how you made it work. I tried to undock the adjustment panel to put it on the second monitor (which is a MBP screen) but could find no way to undock it. I tried dragging the entire window...

    Multiple monitors

I am not sure that this topic belongs in this section, but I could not find a better location for it. Please move it if this is not the correct forum. I have been playing around to see which of my photo editing apps works well with 2 monitors; that is, how can my workflow be improved by...

Photo editing on a Mac Mini

Thank you. The "geeky answer" was extremely helpful in showing me how the iMac compares to the Mac Pro in the multi-core tests. Apparently the iMac is a really fast machine and it seems to be a bit faster than the Mac Pro version with only 4 cores. On top of that the Mac Rumors site is...

Photo editing on a Mac Mini

Thank you for your response. Your experience confirms what I suspected was probably the truth. The Mini, with only a dual core chip, just is not powerful enough to hold its own against a MBP Retina with an i7 quad core chip. I suspect I must remove the Mini from my list of possible choices...

Photo editing on a Mac Mini

I currently work on a 15" MacBook Pro Retina, 2.7GHz i7, 16GB of RAM, 512GB SSD, NVIDIA M650 video card with 1GB of memory running El Capitan and find LR6 runs very quickly on this machine with OpenCL turned on or off and ran just as quickly on Yosemite. For a variety of reasons I may be...

    External editors in LR

I am using LR6 and just purchased some 3rd party photo apps from MacPhun. Some of these function as plugins for LR and some are apps that do not have plugin analogs. I know I can call the apps from LR because I can go to Preferences and select them as the 2nd preferred app and the interface...
