Can't save from Photoshop as a normal jpeg image

Check the bit depth in the Camera Raw preferences. It’s likely that it opens the image in 16 bits/color, and JPEG does not support that either.

    Lightroom running slowly today

MacOS comes with an app called ‘Activity Monitor’. It is located in the Utilities folder of your Application folder. This app shows you which processes take a lot of processor time, and lots of other useful information.

Can't save from Photoshop as a normal jpeg image

Many years ago, the Photoshop ‘Save as’ dialog would only show options like TIFF and PSD if you added layers to your image, or used 16 bits/color. The reason was simple: because JPEG does not support layers or more than 8 bits/color, that could not be an option because that would require...

LRC imports both the original & edited version of each image from iPhone

Don’t edit the images on the iPhone (in Apple Photos). Do it after you have imported them in Lightroom.

    Keywords...part 2

An asterix does indeed mean that you have selected multiple images, and that this keyword is not assigned to all of them, only to some of them. To fix it is easy: either manually delete the asterix, or assign the keyword to the selection. You cannot assign a keyword twice, so it doesn’t matter...

    jpeg and raw stuck together

If you do not trust us to give you the correct answer, why do you ask us a question in the first place?

    jpeg and raw stuck together

You could do that, but there is no reason to do that. Why is this becoming such a long thread? The answer has been given several times now, and the answer is as simple as it can be. Ignore those jpegs. They are not used as images and so they are not affecting the merging of raw files in any way.

    SMART COLLECTIONS

1: Use 'Contains words' rather than 'Contains'. 2: A smart collection can be sorted just like any other grid view. Bottom left.

Restore Lightroom from a recovery disc after catastrophic failure.

Because the folders were missing, you did not see an ‘Update Folder Location’ menu at all. Instead there would have been a ‘Find Missing Folder’ menu that works exactly the same way.

    jpeg and raw stuck together

If you want to merge the images you marked A and B, then just select A and then shift-click on B to select that too. Then use the menu to merge them. Ignore the ‘raw+jpeg’ note because that is irrelevant. By the way: if you want to select a discontinuous series of images, then you should use...

Selecting photos in the map module and applying keyword

Another, even faster, way is simply hit the ‘G’ key to go back to the grid. The images you had selected in the filmstrip in the Map module will remain selected, so now you can add the keyword to all of these images at once.

    jpeg and raw stuck together

What do you mean with ‘get them separated’ in your first message? There are two possibilities: either you see both the raw file as well as the jpeg file as separate photos in Lightroom. In that case you can simply select only the raw files by cmd-clicking on these. Or you do not see the jpeg...

Restore Lightroom from a recovery disc after catastrophic failure.

I’m only talking about the Lightroom catalog file. If you have a backup of that file, you should be safe. TIFF files can usually be restored just fine.

Restore Lightroom from a recovery disc after catastrophic failure.

Didn't you make catalog backups? I'm afraid that the experience with recovery of the catalog from a crashed disk is not good. This often fails.

This is probably an installer, so you just run it.

why do my photos look different on desktop vs iOS app?

Normally profiles are synced if they are imported in Lightroom desktop, but these profiles are probably not imported (I assume they are installed in the Camera Raw folder, because I think they are .dcp profiles, not .xmp profiles). I don’t know enough about VSCO to answer that definitely, however.

    Yet another file sharing question

Another method (which does preserve the history) is to use ‘Export as catalog’ and ‘Import from another catalog’. He would use Export as catalog and send that catalog to you. All he needs to do is include smart previews, originals are not needed. You would make the edits in this catalog, and...

Round tripping from a NAS. Always generates a "Save As" in PS.

You are not mistaken, and it is even the opposite in this case: Lightroom can’t work with a catalog on a network drive. The reason why you get this dialog might be that Photoshop does not have permissions to write to a network volume. Make sure it is listed with these permissions in System...

Smart Collection and "All Synced Photographs"

You can do this as follows: 1: Select the synced collection and then select all photos in that collection 2: Select 'All Synced Photographs'. 3: Choose 'File - Invert Selection' 4: Now you'll have all photos selected that are synced, but not in the synced collection. You can now create a new...

Library module Best workflow for two computers?

If you sync your catalog to the cloud and all the images in it, then they will become available (as smart previews, but that's fine for viewing and rating) on other devices such as your mobile devices and another computer running Lightroom desktop (not Classic). These devices must be logged in...

why do my photos look different on desktop vs iOS app?

Yes, that could be the explanation. AFAIK, the VSCO presets are not just presets, they also include custom profiles. Those profiles may not have been synced.

why do my photos look different on desktop vs iOS app?

Might be because an iOS screen isn’t calibrated and color managed, while your Mac screen is (or should be).

Lightroom>raw file>edit in>goto Photoshop>raw file does not open in Camera Raw

Could we keep this conversation friendly and refrain from personal attacks? I'm trying to explain to you how things work (or can work). I do not constantly read all previous 34 messages to see if something was already mentioned or asked in a different way. If that is 'twisting things' in your...
