Desktop computer: Are Smart Previews worth it?

Doesn't Lightroom access the raw file if a better preview is needed, which should be generated pretty quickly?

Desktop computer: Are Smart Previews worth it?

I'm working on a desktop so don't need the advantage of smart previews to work on images if an external drive isn't connected like a laptop, but is there much advantage to creating them on the desktop? I know it's supposed to help load images in the Development module quicker, but I'm not...

Best way to get images out of Lightroom app for non subscribers.

iCloud only offer 2 GB of storage so doesn't seem viable. If iTunes, does the camera roll show up there? Can I download to the hard drive?

Best way to send multiple photos to others for viewing in Lightroom app

I have images I want to send to my smart phone students for viewing in their Lightroom app. Is there an easy way that I can send them images that they import into the app? Thanks, Reid

Best way to get images out of Lightroom app for non subscribers.

I teach smartphone photography and recommend the Lightroom app to my students. Most of these don’t have an interest in either the photography program subscription service, nor the premium features available through the Lightroom app. I’m looking for recommendations as to how to get their...

Migrating from Lightroom to Lightroom Classic: Any advantage to Lightroom?

Yes, that's gotten to be my thinking as well, since she's already paying for cloudy with Premier Pro

Migrating from Lightroom to Lightroom Classic: Any advantage to Lightroom?

I have a client who is using Lightroom with about 50K images. I've never found any advantage to Lightroom over Lightroom Classic since Lightroom doesn't have feature parity and requires you to upload everything to Adobe. My initial recommendation would be to switch to Lightroom Classic and...

Lightroom not copying to correct date folder?

The only correlation I see to where the photo was placed and the metadata is a field called Metadata date, which I don't know what it is or why LrC is grabbing that for the creation date

Lightroom not copying to correct date folder?

Check the photo I originally posted. There’s a discrepancy between the capture date indicated in the metadata and where Lightroom automatically downloaded it it

Lightroom not copying to correct date folder?

No, I'm not referring to camera moving time zones, but an images moving between several hard drives.

Lightroom not copying to correct date folder?

No, I can't. These are a client's images and they have been moved around from different drives. I think they've traveled more in the last few month than most of us have.

    Monitor brightness & Color profile

I'm not familiar with datacolor software, but with xrite it ready the screen when you run the software and tells you to turn down (usually) the brightness

Lightroom not copying to correct date folder?

I'm working with a client trying to get his catalog in order. We've imported telling Lightroom to download by year and month. But there are large number of images landing in the wrong folder. It seems like Lightroom is downloading by Metadata date (which looks like the import date) and not...

Image Quality, iPhone 11: DNG vs JPG vs HEIC

I agree. I had the iPhone 7 and the image quality was very reasonable. Even my iPhone 6s with the ability to shoot RAW was impressive. My wife wanted to upgrade her iPhone 6 and let me take the iPhone 11 instead. I called our carrier's retention department and was able to get the iPhone 11...

Image Quality, iPhone 11: DNG vs JPG vs HEIC

I think that's reflection. Everything else looks pretty sharp. I just did some more shots outside. Raw deftly holds the edge when there are extreme adjustments that need to be done, but I'm pretty surprised how well JPEG's hold their own. JPEG's from both the Lightroom app and the camera app...

Image Quality, iPhone 11: DNG vs JPG vs HEIC

I think I'll have to shoot more outside, with scenes where I think RAW would excel and see where they actually do. The JPG was actually taken with the Lightroom app, so I would think it would be excluded by Apple's processing.

Image Quality, iPhone 11: DNG vs JPG vs HEIC

I've always been a pretty dedicated raw shooter, and was really excited when it became available on the smart phone a few years ago, and have been shooting with it pretty much exclusively. A few days ago, I got an iPhone 11, and just thought I'd do some tests, especially since I'm teaching...
