I may have missed info about an update, or I have inadvertently disabled it but ... when I used Develop to Crop, the 'Done' button at the bottom was the way to end it. It seems to have gone, so what's the correct process now?

Two ways. Press the slider icon that is next to it or close.

Of interest: Matt Koslowski has a Video blog on this topic
DONE is DONE!

The best thing Adobe done. Don't have to scroll so far to get out.

Many choices to exit from a crop:
  • Hit the "Close" button at the bottom right of the "Crop & Straighten" tool box.
  • Hit the "Edit" icon, at the left side of the list of tool icons.
  • Hit the "Crop Overlay" icon (second from left on the list of tool icons). Or use its keyboard shortcut "R".
  • My favourite: Simply hit the "Enter" key on the keyboard.
  • Choose one of the other tools on the list of tool icons, i.e. Healing, Red Eye Correction, or Masking, if you want to continue editing with one of these. You can choose these tools either by hitting their icons, or by using their shortcut keys.
  • Hit "D" to go back to "Develop" mode.
  • Hit "G" to go back to "Grid" mode.
  • Hit "Escape" to cancel the current crop.
I've always used the "Enter" key to say "OK I'm done with this crop", to the extent that I didn't even know there was a "Done" button and wondered what all the fuss was about when it was removed.
