A question to those of you who have experience with using multiple computers. For a number of years I've been using LR on a single computer (desktop), however I recently have gotten the opportunity to use a laptop and I see that as a possible solution to a problem that I have: adding metadata to my photos.

I'm OK with sitting at the desktop for editing photos, but I don't have the patience to sit there and add the metadata (which I find very useful for finding photos later). My hope is that with the help of a laptop I'm able to do the metadata stuff somewhere else than in front of my desktop.

How I imagine this to work: I select a folder with photos, export it as a catalog, move it to the laptop, add metadata, move it back, import to main catalog. Basically alternative 6 in the LR Classic Missing FAQ book.

I don't expect to do any editing etc on the laptop, just adding metadata stuff. I'll be working on old photos, any new photos will be imported into the main catalog (desktop) to other folders (i.e. no overlap). The likelihood of me adding photos to my main catalog (desktop) while I'm working on adding metadata on the laptop is very high.

Is this a reasonable solution? Is there a better way of doing it?

Yeah, that'll work fine. If you're planning on adding keywords on your laptop, just double check you get your full keyword list in the exported chunk (I can't check right now).

Great. Thanks.
