When I move an edited image from Lightroom to Photoshop, the process seems abnormally slow. I'm using the Edit In command from Lightroom to Photoshop 2020. A sample image I timed at 61 seconds with Photoshop already open. The image is not abnormally large - a full size image from a Nikon Z6 which is 24 megapixels. When it opens in Photoshop, the image looks to incorporate the LR edits, but does show up as a NEF file rather than a TIF. The test image did have some local adjustments with a good deal of brush work, but nothing that unusual.

I'm using the latest versions of Lightroom Classic and Photoshop on a Windows laptop. The laptop is running the latest update of Win 10 and has 16 MB of RAM.

Any ideas?

does show up as a NEF file rather than a TIF.
On this topic- This is normal. The NEF file that 'opens' in Photoshop is still only in a virtual state known to Ps. It becomes a TIFF only when 'Saved' to the hard-drive as a physical file. Ignore what you see on the Ps image tab- carry on editing and 'Save'.
The situation would be the same if you edited a JPG and then saved it as a TIF.

And it's the same as when you open a raw file (via ACR) directly in Photoshop. Because Photoshop does not know yet which file format you will choose on 'Save', it will show the raw file extension. Even though that is the only file format you can not use to save the result.

Are the LR adjustments including local adjustments carried forward to PS?

Any ideas about the speed? This seems unreasonably slow.
Yes, all settings are carried forward. 60 seconds is slow, but not extremely slow.

Does seem slow to me, but I am accustomed to "slow" on my laptop :) .
Have a work through all the blogs from Victoria. The link-

My Dell laptop 8GB ram, will load a DNG file into open Photoshop in about 15seconds (with Ps pre-loaded). But opening Photoshop alone takes about 30 seconds, and I suspect your files " with a good deal of brush work, " might also slow down the raw rendering.
