Thanks to both of you for all of this investigating.
I did not know that about the 1:1 in-camera crop (jpg vs raw) and it is perhaps a bit confusing since both the jpg and raw show up as squares in LR. But now that I think about it, your explanation makes perfect sense. No more shooting is 1:1...
Hi John,
Thanks so much for offering to help with this. This is a very newly encountered problem for me and believe it occurs in both portrait and landscape orientation.
Here is the link.

In the meantime, I will take...
I have been having an intermittent problem syncing settings between RAW and jpg files. I am currently using LR Classic 12.01. (I did not experience this problem when using LR Classic 11.)
Let's say I have two files, xyz.jpg and xyz.raf that I imported from my camera into LR. In the Develop...
My colleague has been working on a copy of my catalog with my TIFF images. He did not work on the TIFFs themselves, but created virtual copies and applied adjustments.
I want to merge his catalog with mine, so that I too have his virtual copies that I can continue to work on.
When I import...
Thank you for this information. I will certainly investigate this further when I get to printing the images.
I think that perhaps I didn't make it completely clear that right now, I am not printing on paper, just executing the "print to jpeg" function in the print module. Does this change...
Thank you for your help., Cletus.
I tried what you suggested--replacing the white background with blue--and when exporting to jpeg a blue line appeared in place of the white one.
Each source photography is 4"x4". I have created a print template in which each cell is 4"x4". I have exported...
I have this following problem when I used both LR 8.41 and 9.1.
Here’s what happens:
I create a grid (4 rows, 3 columns) in the print module with zero cell spacing. I leave “Show Guides” unchecked. “Zoom to Fill” is checked.
When I see the image on screen in the print module, there are no...
A quick update...I managed to salvage my catalogue. I exported it and now when I quite the the newly exported catalogue, the appropriate dialogue box pops up and a back up is created.
Good thought! I tried doing that and still no back up dialogue box.
I also tried creating a new catalogue, testing it to make sure that it backs up properly and then importing the older (problematic) catalogue into this. I was not able to complete the import. The Import from Catalog dialog...
Not a problem. And thank you for all of these great thoughts. LR does exit immediately so I don't think the dialogue box is obscured. My latest thinking is that the catalogue might be corrupted and am trying to see what solutions are available f this is the case.
If you or anyone has any more...
I recently created a new LR cataloge. Unlike my two other catalogues, when I quit this one I do not get the usual "Back Up Catalog" dialogue box. Instead the catalogue just quits (without creating a back up anywhere on my computer), despite having set the back up option to "Every time...
Thanks for this tip. I have been waiting for the problem to re-occur so that I can try this out. Unfortunately, importing in this manner doesn't seem to resolve the situation. Sigh!
I see nothing in the import dialog box. It remains empty and the task bar in the top left corner does not advance. It just stays in that positon (no matter how long I wait) until I cancel the function.
If things were working, I would expect to see thumb nails in the import dialog box of each...
