We may have just used a second computer last year dedicated to the editing - though, it seems it wouldn't matter. LR3 doesn't automatically update the slideshow with new photos like LR2 did, and I don't think there's any way for me to get a LR2 license.
It looks like it was true - when I got this to work last year, it was with LR 2.7. I upgraded to LR3, which also doesn't actively add new photos in the filmstrip to the looping slideshow. And it doesn't look like I can purchase a key for LR 2.7 anywhere...

Mark - I tried that, but Lightroom's slideshow always stops when another program is called up - so, when the imported photo pops open in Photoshop, the slideshow stops no matter what monitor anyone is hanging out on.
I'm not sure how to move Lightroom and its menu bar to the second monitor in OSX (I'm using 10.5), and a Mac is the only computer I'll have available for this project. Thanks for the prompt reply!

I'll give that a try - thanks! My only concern is that if I'm running the slideshow full-screen on monitor two via LR2.7 any time I go to LR2 on the monitor one, the slideshow stops - i can't figure out how to keep it locked and active on the second monitor once I switch to a new application on...
