Filtering of JPG gives me HEIC files?

Thanks John, very helpful. Looks like a task for the long weekend. I’ll let you know how I get on.

Filtering of JPG gives me HEIC files?

Thanks Phil. I am increasingly thinking that the best approach is to start again by creating a new account on my Mac and downloading all the photos into the Mac app Photos. This will give me greater control over exporting the photos and subsequently importing into LRC.

Filtering of JPG gives me HEIC files?

I used Apple's Window tool for downloading. I'm wondering if I should start again and create a new Photos library on my Mac and download all the photos. I'll then be able to cleanly export all unedited photos and all edited photos separately rather than having this confusing set of image files.

Filtering of JPG gives me HEIC files?

As an aside I looked at the number of jpegs and heic as per the filter bar and as per the smart collection. The numbers are noticeably different. I'm not sure if the pairing issue may be the cause?

Filtering of JPG gives me HEIC files?

John, Thats really helpful, thanks. I have found a set of 3 photos which are shown in the grid as follows: Which I search in the HEIC smart collection for the file I get: But in the JPG smart collection I get: So I am a bit confused. I've not unpaired the files yet. I have uploaded...

Filtering of JPG gives me HEIC files?

Hi John, I tried exporting both of these files as I notice that one has HEIC + JPEG in the title and the other just has HEIC. However, exporting both files only creates the file in this link https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ab91fhxhnmnnhus/AAAQh4gnDGSjMB_k_mbjjzKNa?dl=0 The photos were most likely...

Filtering of JPG gives me HEIC files?

John, Thanks, please see attached screenshot. The other option I guess is to just create a filter based a text search of '.heic'?

Filtering of JPG gives me HEIC files?

Thanks John. The preference box was unticked. I ticked it, but the results are the same. I have attached a screenshot. Hopefully you can see the highlighted image is .heic, although the smart collection should be jpegs only. As well as having .heic and .jpg versions of the same file she...

Filtering of JPG gives me HEIC files?

Hi, I am trying to organise my sister's photos and have downloaded the 20k+ photos from iCloud. After importing I've noticed that for a large number of the photos I have both a .jpg version and a .heic version. I decided to create a smart collection for each file type and my plan is to then...

    Book Recommendation

Hi, I have been using Lightroom for many years and am pretty comfortable using it. I now want to step things up and use Photoshop for advanced retouching/blending of photos - be it potraits, travel photography, etc. I've tried teaching myself Photoshop but find it quite impenetrable to start...

    Limited Time Deal

Hi, I don't recognise the temporary files, I don't recall ever seeing them in my catalog. However, you have posted your question under an existing thread - not a problem, but your question may not get the answers and attention you need. If you start a new thread, I'm sure one of the gurus...

Chronosync - Byte by Byte Comparison

Thanks Jack. The assumption you are making is that the initial back-up was done with Chrono, and if so, then I agree that incremental changes will then be verified. Although as we all know hard drives are never completely reliable and so the option to undertake a full check periodically would...

Chronosync - Byte by Byte Comparison

I contacted Chronosync, this is their reply: QUOTE ChronoSync doesn't have a feature where you can run an operation that compares the contents of all items in the two chosen Targets. ChronoSync's data verification feature is performed after copying data and only applies to the items copied...
