Johan, Thanks for the reply. That is what I was thinking as well. Since my cache was over 90GB and only grows bigger which means that I have to delete it on a regular basis.
Guessing as I deleted the cache, rebuilding will take place as necessary using the smaller size. Is my assumption...
While I appreciate all of the input about importing and preview size which gives more food for thought, I'm still looking for the answer to my original questions above.
I'm going back to a thread that is closed to ask some additional questions: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/community/threads/freeing-up-space-by-discarding-1-1-preview-cache-issue.48265/
The above quoted material is from Johan Elzenga and I'm not sure how to tag him in this post if that is...
Thanks for the reply Cletus. Do you have a specific folder setup on your iPhone for those AppleRAW images to sync through the LR iPhone app? That's one reason I like the LR iPhone app is it doesn't catch all the junk that I shoot with the camera. I'm also wondering about the inability for the...
I'm a classic Lightroom user and use my older iPhone shooting with the Lightroom App and using Cloud Sync to upload the images I shoot. Then download and process them locally on my computer.
I'm considering a new iPhone 14 Pro and was wondering if people are using the native Apple RAW (if...
John, thanks for your help!! I've run the command listed above on my files having this issue and it fixed all of them. It was interesting to see some of the other differences between each of those files in some cases data was missing in some files, while present in others. Thanks again for...
@Paul_DS256 based on your comments got me to thinking as well. I had added keywords to some of these file previously as well as some star ratings. I'm wondering if because these are older JPG files if that could be the reason that Lightroom "might" no longer support the camera and software...
I've only used Lightroom on these files. But that may be worth a look to see what the problem really is. As I'm thinking something is corrupted within the files at this point. They view fine open fine, just can't write data to them. Will look at this, thanks!!
Ruled that out previously as well. Even when removing them from the catalog, putting them into a different folder and importing them again, no luck. At this point I opened all the files and saved them as TIF files and they function correctly.
What would cause the inability to write keywords to a specific file? I see the following ! on some files that I recently added some keywords to. When I ask it to read the meta data from the file the keywords disappear, OK, get that. I then enter the keyword again and the ! reappears and when...
Ken,
I can't say, as I only imported three times, so not sure what would happen if I had changed it back again.
I did not try this in a brand new catalog either.
Sorry for not being much more help.
Kevin
