I'm still trying to digest your replies... I would think moving the Catalog from Desktop-A to Desktop-B would be very straight forward.... Thanks for your replies.... In my mind I'm not doing anything different than what I'm been doing for the past 12 or so months. Thank you so much....
I might add that I've done a lot of googling about this message.... and it seems like it's been an issue for many years. Also many have said the problem is caused by a "lock" file and the solutions is to delete the lock. Unfortunately I don't know anything about a "lock file."

Thanks Rikk, I think I messed up with my post. (I'm a dinosaur) The first thing I do is a photo merge in Lightroom .... then send the merged image to HDR Efex Pro 2. I have not yet tried anything in Photoshop........ which returns a Tiff file back to Lightroom.
I use Lightroom Classic CC on my Windows 10 desktop. For HDR editing I've used the Nik Collection (HDR Efex Pro 2) with some success. I recently downloaded a trial 14 day trial version of Aurora HDR 2018. At this point I know virtually nothing about the Aurora software.

Before I wear out my welcome just wanted you to know that everything seems to be working. I went to the Adobe site and downloaded LR Classic CC and installed it. It works!!!

BTW, I found a place on the Adobe home site where I can download LR Classic CC. I'm in the process of doing that now. There is a lot of info in the Adobe home page ... but quite honestly it is somewhat confusing.
I’m afraid this is way above my paygrade……. I went back to one of backed up LR Classic CC catalogs and double clicked on it. I got the following message:
