Capture 1 Pro says that it supports tethering for Sony cameras. I have the software (V10) and it doesn't appear to work. I have a support request in but no response yet. I like the features of Capture 1 Pro better than LR (and there is a Sony-only version for $50 which is a real bargain), but...
I know about the monitored folder approach. That is not what I want - I want to be able to "live view" the image on my MacBook Pro 15 Retina display - and adjust from there. I have the Sony app for adjusting the camera settings - but I want to see the image before taking the shot.
LR currently doesn't support tethering for Sony cameras. I wonder if anyone knows if this support may be added in the next release or update. Sony has some very nice cameras now (I love my A7RII) and I expect there are an increasing number of LR users with Sony cameras who could use this...
One comment about transferring your MBP files over to the new iMac 27 Retina. You can certainly use the data migration process from your Time Machine backup, but it is going to be pretty slow. (This worked for me when my wife's old iMac died, but I had an up-to-date Time Machine backup. I...
The memory I installed is from Crucial and is designed for the iMac 27 Retina. The specs for the new memory matches the existing memory exactly - in fact, the memory chip manufacturer for both the original and new memory is Micron. I am quite sure there is nothing wrong with the new memory (it...
LR6 does take advantage of the extra memory. I added the new memory and now have 32GB of RAM in my iMac. I had some batches of JPGs to import. During the import process - and the generation of previews - LR uses more and more memory. Interestingly, once the import is done, it doesn't release...
I have checked Activity Monitor, and the highest memory usage for LR 6 that I have seen (so far) was a little less than 4 GB. Maybe it would use more when importing a large volume of new photos and building previews - as I know that is multi-threaded now. I did decide to buy more memory...
I have a (late 2014) iMac 27 Retina with 16 GB of RAM. I can upgrade to 32 GB for about $100 and I am considering this because of another software product I am using. Can LR 6 on OS X actually benefit from the increased memory? The system requirements only say 8 GB of RAM is recommended - and...
I'll do some more experimenting, but I can't seem to get this to work.
I know this is not the Workflow forum, but I wonder if anyone can comment on my specific workflow.
When I import a new batch of photos, I do not assign any keywords. Once the images have been imported, I then define and...
FRV does do a conversion and is not just showing the embedded jpg. The OP noted that the original preview image was OK, and I assume that was the embedded jpg that was showing up. It was the import/conversion that was failing.
The comment about the possible hardware issues was interesting...
I am current running LR6 (on OS X 10.10.3) and have not had any problems with the import process (I had no problems with V5 either) so it is hard to tell you what settings need to be changed. My suggestion would be to go into preferences and reset everything to defaults in case something has...
I would try opening the files in the Canon Raw viewer program (that they give you with the cameras), or get a (free) evaluation copy of Fast Raw Viewer (http://www.fastrawviewer.com) and see if they can open the cr2 files. If they show the same distortions, then the raw files may be corrupted...
My situation is that I have a "Previous Import" with 368 photos. I am going through those photos assigning them to a collection (actually I have a collection set and then specific collections inside that set - this is a set of cruise photos and I want to assign them to collections for specific...
I need to identify imported photos that have not been assigned to a collection. I thought I could use the library filter to find these photos, but I can't figure out how to do it. Can I use the Library filter to find these "uncollected" photos? If so, how?
