    You showed me how to use the Metadata date column set to hierarchical .After I isolate the fall months do I put the pics that come up in a collection. And then keep adding to that collection for each year?

    I have 400+ Sunset pictures and I am trying to set up collections of Fall,Winter,Spring and Summer. I can not get the date filter to cooperate. It keeps defaulting to the present date. I need to handle the month and year separately. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Ed

    Johan, Yes I meant presets into top level folders. Foe example, if Ihad a string of presets how would I make a top level folder with the sender's name? Sorry I wasn't more clear

    GONE from the drive, it won't even open or appear in Disk Mgt. Since I have to replace the external HDD anyway ,can I put it all on an external SSD ?

    Similar problem last WIN 10 upgrade catalog & images gone off of external hard drive & backups gone off of C: drive. Don't ask I have no idea. Have two other externals but what would you think of putting everything on an EXTERNAL SSD?

    Phil, Thank you for your help. I know enough about Windows too get into trouble It tried your suggestion 3 times and it can't find the drive. This all started a few days ago after WINDOWS latest update. No pictures, no backups. Luckily I had another external. Thanks again and keep in touch.

    HDD TO SSD DRIVE

    Thank You all for your input. The computer is five years old has every thing I need to use LR. So I thought I could use an external SSD to bypass the computers HDD, and extend the life of the computer. Possible ?

    Is it possible to clone the HDD in Toshiba laptop to an external SSD drive and then boot from the SSD and then run LR from the SSD.? THANKS FOR ANY HELP you can provide .
